Hey Guys, wonder if a these tire/rim combo would fit my 2nd gen. I think they will but I Just want to make sure.

19x8 rims with a 38 offset and 4.5" bolt pattern wrapped in 235/35 rubber.

Thanks.

I don't know for sure. I know 19's will fit on a eclipse (god only knows why someone would want 19's) but you i'm not sure about the correct offset. I think 38 is fine but those tires won't fit 235's might have rubbing issues. Please tell me you have a lowered suspension b/c if not those things are going to look hideous and hilarious. :barf:

Nope, I haven't lowered the suspension yet. I'm just shopping around for tires and rims before my car is finished with the body kit and paint job. Reason for the larger rim if less tire wall flex for better cornering and 235's for more rubber on the road. I know 36+ offset rubs, but I think 38+ might just have enough clearance. If not I guess I'll just have to role the fenders while it is in the shop and I have access to all the tools. I see others running around with 18's with 40+ so I hope 2mm difference isn't night and day.

Less sidewall flex is not always a good thing. Considering you'll be running 19's, you'll probably be running 35 series low profile tires, which will actually hurt performance. For handling, you want a tire that has a moderatly STIFF sidewall, but not necessarily a short sidewall. Look at Formula 1 cars, or almost any club SCCA race car. They all have SMALL wheels, and tall sidewall tires.
The short tire's sidewall will not contour to the the uneven road surface very well, and will patter and jump all over the place, and rattle your teeth out on bumpy roads.
Also, large 19" wheels will increase unsprung weight, and rotational weight, which KILLS performance. Also, with a larger rolling circumferance, your accleration will actually be slower than stock.

Imagine this: Try running with small, light and tight shoes with moderate rubber soles on your feet, verus running with big, heavy, and clumsy shoes with non-contouring rubber soles. In which shoes will you run faster? In which shoes can you dance well?

I see your point but I do like to looks of 19's. Decissions decissions.

They should fit.

97-99 GSX came with a 215-50-17 which equals an overall height of 25.46"
95-96 GSX manual came with a 215-55-16 which equals an overall height of 25.31"

The 235-35-19 = 25.48" in overall height

So over all height is fine.

The width and offset should be ok as well. I can tell you that an 8" wide wheel with a 32mm offset sticks out 1/4", the wheels you are looking at will sit in 6mm(aka 1/4") because they are a 38mm offset. So the setup you have mentioned should be fine.

Under hard cornering you may have the some rub between the lip of the fender and the tire.....but it probably wond be crasy bad, unless you lower it, then it may become a major rub.

Have you thought about 18's? They will most definetly handle better :thumb:

Yes I have but I found a great deal for 19's that I couldn't pass up. I know 19's would hurt my ride but it is something that I can live with.
