Hey guys, I would like to lower my car, and I would like to go with Eibach's but, I'm not whats better? The Pro-kit!(1"), or Sportline(1.5")??? I don't really want to have to get camber plates unless I have to.

Thanks

With the Pro-kit you will not need a camber kit. The sportlines will drop you down about 1.7 inches easy. Technically you will need a camber kit. But dont bother wasting your money. Because camber kits dont really work the way they are designed to. I know this because my in-laws own a brake and alignment shop which specializes in imports. They basically told me that the Ingalls camber correction is useless.

They recommend (as do I), to get the car corner weighted and have your Toe adjusted for better treadwear. Having a little camber helps anyway.

Enjoy.

If you find a shop in your area who has a good reputation with lowered imports, then most likely they wont charge over $50-60 bucks. I recommend doing this and getting your alignment set as well, which is about $50 as well.

Let us know what you do.
Thanks,
Nathan

OK great - thanks for the help, one more question, if I do the Sportline's will I be ok for awhile (couple of months) before i have it corner weighted and toe adjusted? Or do I need to do this all at once? Haven't won the lottery yet.....

Thanks alot!

get a camber kit - i don't care what anyone says - if you do your car more than an inch or so you will literally see your tires bowed in like this: /----\. and you will also need your toe adjusted as well - just take it to a laser alignment shop and have it done right and pay the cash - its worth it to not have the inner corners of your tires shred. you don't have to pay that much for a camber kit you know - you can find all the parts you need @ a hardware store - some washers (one's that won't rust) and the bolts - if you want i'll see if i can't find the exact specs for the bolts cause i know that they are special one's... i ended up paying $40 for my kit and only used the bolts and went and got the washers for like $1.20 from home depot - so basically i spent $40 on ..what is it.. 8 bolts? i don't remember now...

I have Sportlines on my 1G with 17" wheels. I have stock camber setting, by cutting a 1/4" out of the center of the lower rear control arms and rewelding them. I did use camber kit for the front that came with the order I placed. I took the car to the local alignment shop and perfect stock camber was set. If you dont have a welder, take the lower rear control arms to a shop or welder and have them do it for you. I have been driving the car for over 1 year ,with no sign of wear on the tires due to poor camber settings. FYI - I copied this idea from another local DSMer in MN who had this done on his car over 4 years ago and still works perfect.

My understanding is that the washer idea works on 2Gs well, but I don't know of any 1G guys who have done that inexpensive fix.

Toe kills tires faster than camber. A bad toe will eat corners like nothing. Get it aligned immediately after just so you can zero out the toe front and rear.

I think you would all shudder if I told you what my ideal would be for my 96, but then again I am sadastic. :)
