For you guys with the Taboo rear camber kit for a 1g awd, Has anyone heard of any problems with this kit coming out of adjustment, or any praise for the quality? Im looking at kits right now, but I want to make sure of any unforseen problems first. Thanks. :thumb:

I lengthened mine myself rather than use the bolt on kit. I cut the arms and welded them back together about 1/2" longer with some bent plate on the frontside and back. Works great, is stronger than stock and won't come out of adjustment.

No disrespect to Taboo's kit, I just did it my way.

Just buy some $60 whiteline camber correction bushings. They are listed for a GVR4 but work in the 1Gs. They work. No cutting or welding or anything.

I have never seen these on a car or in person, btu I have heard they have limited adjustment. The best way is to use the arms. Any info on this would be great.

I helped a friend of mine install them on his car. He has the JIC Magic coil-overs. His car sits in the weeds (maybe 1/2" fender gap). The alignment shop had no problem getting the alignment set. The tech there (GVR2 owner) said he had adjustment to spare. This is probably the worst scenario you could have since the car sits so low.

I ordered a set of them myself. I'll be installing them in about 1 or 2 weeks with my Eibach sportlines.

I too have the whiteline kits, however its almost impossible to get the stock upper control arm bolts out. The only way is to cut them, so make sure you have a hacksaw with 2 good blades or else youll never get them out. It took me 4 hours for both bolts, about an hour per cut. I since then had my car aligned and it wasnt a problem as far as I know. I have 2inches from fender to tire.

I've never had a problem getting the bolts out and I've taken upper control arms out many times.

The whiteline units have a large enough range of adjustment.

use Ingalls and just replace them all together...then make an entire replacement arm

OMG, i wish i had your luck. it was pure agonizing hell. although i do have a 4bolt swap, so i dont really know how long the rear end was sitting outside before it was installed in my car.

i did my owner camber kit. Chopped up some thick aluminum bars and drilled them. THen bought some bolts, washers and nuts. Chopped up my arms, installed the bars bolts and nuts. Voila! And a test drive over bumps, hard turns, acceleration and check the camber kit to make sure it didnt shift or loosen. Ur done.

I have the taboo kit on my car.

During the installation, I also ran into the problem of the bolt not coming out. It was rust welded to the inner spacer in the bushing. I had to cut it off at the head with my rotozip.

It sucked.

I have KYB AGX shocks w/ Megan racing 2.00" drop springs.

My car rode like a cadillac prior to the install. Now, it hits hard in the rear for some reason. My shocks sound like they are not working and that when i hit bumps in the road, I can hear the springs in the rear moving on the shock.

Did anyone else have this problem?

How exactly is the Taboo kit "not worth the money?" Did you break it? Are your adjustments out of whack? Try and make an objective argument rather than a subjective one. Sure you could have made your own but you didn't for some reason. I wonder why? For those people cutting pieces of aluminum and "welding them up" - can you make adjustments? How long have you been driving with your custom kit? Do you autocross, drag race alot with your kit as well to base the superiority of your kit above other tested kits out there? I don't think so. I have had the Taboo kit on my car for a year plus and my car is daily driven and raced very frequently and it holds up. As a matter of fact I have tried to test it's limits but it holds up. Taboo mentioned to me that they did vigorous testing on them before putting them up for sale and so far I am yet to hear of someone break it unlike the numerous Ingalls I see snapping all over the place. The newer Ingalls may be better though. For what I spent on the kit, it was well worth it, no question. :thumb:
