Ok, i got some new Hoosier A3S03 racing tires. they are 215/40/16, and i mounted them on a 16x6 inch rim. I am only using them for track drag racing. No turns or anything. Does this look like it will work? anything funny looking about them?
check out this beuatiful picture i took too. IMO, it looks really cool.

haha. well they are not true drag slicks. they are designed for autocross. But the only reason i was asking, is because of how far the tires stick out on the side of the wheel. i was just making sure that everyone though it was safe.

anyone else have an opinion. like any wisemen, or mods?

I'm sorry, but getting low-profile A3S03s for drag-racing is one of the sillier things that I've heard this week. Those tires are great autoXing tires because they have extremely stiff sidewalls. Between this and the profile, you just removed every bit of tire flex that you had, which is going to make it very hard to launch. If you don't have rock-hard motor mounts and suspension bushings, then it's going to be wheel-hop city.

Advice: post your set-up for sale on various autoXing lists. Those running DSMs in the SCCA's Stock class might be interested, since you must run stock-sized wheels in Stock.

well i picked up all four with the rims for 100 bucks from a guy that owed me a favor, so i couldnt pass up the deal. and they most definately will hook up better than my 18's. when i get some more cashh, i will invest in a good set of actual drag tires. but for 100 bucks for 4 tires and 2 rims, i couldnt turn it down.

Hey, I hear you. A good deal is a good deal. I mostly wanted to warn people who read magazines with cars running Hoosiers on the street that these are not the right tires for drag-racing.

but by the way that they are mounted would you consider that to be safe, if used in a straight line only?

The odds are these came from an autoXer. If it's good enough for that, it's good enough for drag-racing.
