1g AWD Subframe Removal

Just wondering if anyone knows if the front subframe can be removed with out removing the trans. I know the transfer case will need to be removed which is no big deal.

Car has to goto the frame shop and the subframe will need to be removed to perform the repair. Obviously i'd rather pull the trans and associated BS instead of them. So does anyone have any insight on this?

DSM manual doesnt cover removal of the subframe too well and what little it does say makes no mention of needing to remove the trans.

Private Message Ndgsx, he and I have taken the subframes off of his car many times but there is no engine in it. He should be able to provide some light as to whether its possible.
