Need to know a bit more than that.

GR-2s are basically stock replacements (slightly stiffer than stock). If you plan to run aftermarket springs with them, then you really shouldn't be modding the car at all.

Lowering and stiffer springs will require shocks that are shorter and have better damping capability. Koni Sport or full blown true coilover (with matched spring and damper) kits is the right way to go.

Hmmm more money :| but i guess it had to be done thanks man goo thing i got that new job :thumb:

Gr-2's work fine on certain springs for people who are on a budget. I have them with my H&R sports and love them. I'll probably replace them if they ever blow but i've been riding on them for over a year. But then again i might switch to Tein's. They would also work just fine on a aprokit but i wouldn't put them on sportlines.

GR-2s are inappropriate for lowering springs. The shocks are not shorter than stock which means you are lowering at the expense of less travel, which means it is the wrong thing to do. Ask any reputable dsm tuner. Just because it works doesn't mean it works well... like the stock suspension, which is why you replaced it in the first place.

blah, blah, blah. I know i know i've heard it a million times. But i works well for me. It works 10X better than the stock suspension while not sacrificing ride quality.

hmm..........so many different opinions ! well see what i do thanks everyone

I don't know what's more annoying... people asking for help with attitude or those who insist they are right when they clearly aren't. It's been discussed to death. The correct way to lower is to use lowerings springs with shorter shocks. Spending money to modify cars to loose functionality (in this case suspension travel) is just nonsense. You yourself admit that you've heard it a million times but continue to insist that it works well. What you've done with your car simply doesn't add up. Lowering with stock lenght shocks = lost travel. Hit a good sized pot-hole at speed and you pay the consequences. Not to mention the GR-2s aren't properly valved to handle higher than stock spring rates. Look at RRE's site under the suspension section in their DSM catalog.

KYB GR-2 Gas Shocks & Struts

KYB is the O.E.M. for the Eclipse, and these shocks are a great replacement value. These are a little stiffer than stock; definitely not a sports shock.#

wow wow now I didnt have anykind of attitude i think your refering the the "well see" sentence....right ? if so that was a "we will see" sorry for the mix up and also even if it is been proven by some that this doesnt "add up" maybe my95tsi hasnt had a problem yet. so yes I could use these safely as we have seen but at the same time i see its not recomended. since I already have these Maybe i will see if they will work out as good as they did for my95tsi. what ever i do I thank both of you for you input and can asure you that in the end there will be the " correct " lowering system on this car.......Thanks guys :thumb:

He just doesn't seem to get it and he's turning everything is say around. PaulPDX is entirely right however they work fine for ME, and i emphasize ME. Maybe now he'll get it. He still has the stock suspension himself.
