I am working on installing a set of KYB AGX struts(4/8) along with Tein coil overs. The front asembly went to gether fine, but on the rear asembly, I tighten the nut as far as possible. But since the entire shaft of the strut twists, I am un-able to get the correct torque spec on it. Also, the spring still has quit a bit of play in it after the nut is tightend. I do NOT need to use compressors on the rear springs at all. I can move the springs up and down about a quarter inch. and twist the spring around as well. Does anyone know if this is normal....if not, does anyone know a fix for this?

its normal, for the most part, but what do you mean, your using agx's and tein coil overs? tein coil overs are the spring and strut made as one, they dont make regular coil overs like skunk 2 or ground control. if you use their coil overs, you have to use their struts, there is no way around it, they just dont sell the coil over part separate.

here is a pic of tein coil overs, i have a set of these in the pic, and i also am a distibutor of them as well.

thats what figured you were talking about, but i thought maybe someone sold you some coil overs and told they were teins, i was just going to let you knoe that they werent teins, but yeah, if there is a big difference in the drop in the spring you got, most of the time you wont need a spring compressor when re assembly of the strut/spring. you usually only need the compressor when taking off the stock spring, or putting a stock spring or stock height aftermarket spring onto the strut.

its normal man, did you have to use the compressor when putting the tein spring on the front?

i think tein springs have a bigger drop in the rear then in the front, so it sets level when the car is on the ground. when you put the car back together, and lower the car to the ground, the strut will compress and it might make a clunk noise but thats just the spring popping into place, but it play in the spring that you had will go away.

Yeah, I did need to use the compressors in the front, but I took it for a long road test, seems to work fine, no odd noises, no strange pulls, and a smooth ride. Now I just need to figure out what settings are best to run the struts at. Right now I have them at 2 up front, and 3 in the rear... Any ideas on a better combo? Its mostly for street use.

the agx's i dont really know about, what are they 5 way adjustable?
i know teins 10 in front and 12 in the rear is good ride(thats what most people i know run them at), not to stiff, but stiff enough to handle good. it all depends on how you want it to ride, the stiffer it is the better it will handle in turning, but you will feel every pebble in the road, if they are 5way's then where you have them is probably pretty goo, you'll just have to different setting combos out and then just use what you thought had the best ride.

To be honest, it feels pretty stock...I can notice it a little, the ride is not as rough, but I have not done any hard cornoring or anything like that. Just hoping there were some other members with the same set up that might have some insightfull input on what settengs work best when.
