Searched through the forums.

Im looking for a set of summer tires only, not all seasons.
I was mostly leaning towards the Toyo T1-S and Azenis. More or less towards Toyo because of the longer lifetime.

Question is, am i looking at the wrong 2 set of tires if i want about 2 summer's treadlife out of them ? (aprox 6.5 months)

Also what did you guys pay for the T1-S' i think the dealer near me quoted low 500's for the set included mount and balance.

What size tire do we get to work w/ because that makes a huge difference??

kuhmo 712 are good for the price

Mx's are alot better though and still cheaper then about any tire in that category.

Check tirerack.com for good comparisons and prices

How important are ...
... dry traction?
... wet traction?
... launch traction?
... turn-in and lateral stability?
... road noise at speed?

What size wheels are these going on?

dry traction most important
wet traction fairly important

Thats why im leaning towards T1-S's instead of azenis cuz falkens blow in the rain.
Launch not so much important, but mostly want 2 summers of treadlife (7 months)

i am running Dunlop FM 901's. think i got them for like 89 a peice. they have been on the car for 10,000 miles now and are wearing good. they are a pure summer tire but w/ awd have used them all year w/ little to no traction prob in the snow. they have great dry and wet traction and launch. :talon:

yes they are pricier but in al head to head comparos on tire rack against Yoko AVS Sports, Dunlop SP9000's, Goodyear F1's and other top of the line max performance street tires they win. They pulled .98G on a IS300 with Eibach pro-kits. Worth the $ imo.

KDW2s are the best tires anywhere near their price, in my opinion (if you can stand a little more road noise). Kuhmo KU19s are also amazing for your price range--very solid tire, usually cheaper than ES100s and better in every way (as tested by tire rack). Third, I'd suggest Yokohama ES100s, because they're almost as good as the KU19s and they're for sale almost everywhere, but their tread life is terrible.

Kuhmo 712s are NOT worth anything for an enthusiast compared to what you can get for just a little more money. However, if you're only driving on the street, they're fine. I just wouldn't use them for spirited driving in the country or track use.

EDIT: I went from a consistent third in class to a consistent first in class at my local autocross group by ONLY switching to the KDW2s. The added grip is completely unbelievable with AWD. It feels like you're playing a video game, and you're in control of everything. Best mod I've ever done for autocross.

Falken Azenis ST-115 are right around 100-120 a peice for 225/45/17. I am ordering a set next week. They have great reviews in dry/wet traction and are one of the quietest tires out there I guess.

Falken Azenis Sports are nicer but they are a little more spendy and are stickier so less life is expected.

Kumhos suck unless you go with MX's.
Yoko ES100s are really nice as well.
