okay so i bought this really nice strut bar for our 97 Eclipse GST. i made sure it was for the turbo model. it came and it fits nicely but the hood won't close right!! help! anyone have any idea what's wrong? is it the strut bar or something we need to do?

yeah we tried that already ... is it possible the bar can be too thick/fat? if it was just a little thinner the hood would close just fine. but the thing is made for our car model and that's what frustrates me. i just wanted to make sure whether there was anything we could do before we have to send it back or sell it.

Hmmm, that's odd. My bar is pretty thick and there's still plenty of clearance. Is it that it bends up too much?

Sounds like it may be the wrong one. The most common mount like this, with the flat part over the battery and the tabs toward the front:

FYI: I ordered the DC Sports Carbon Steel front upper strut bar (DCSP CSB1001).

carbon steel holy hell, talk about super strong metal, i hope you preload that bar like hell when you get it on

could you please post a picture of the bar on the car? There might be an answer in there, but I would like to see it first.
