would these be good coil overs for daily driving?

i need a suspension that will allow me to go to the track during the summer, and then adjust my height for the winter time. my car is a daily driver that i run every once in a while. i know that when i adjust the height i will have to get an alignment. anyhow, is this a good set....

I have the Tein flex and I'm pretty happy with it. The spring rates are pretty high, and it's stiff, but tolerable for daily driving. At least I think so. My wife tends to disagree, but she still rides in the car sometimes.

The basic is 1 kg/mm softer in the front so it should be a slightly more plush ride for the street. The basic also doesn't have spherical bearing upper mounts, which will also make it better for the street.

what would the spherical bearing uppermount do?

edit...
that would justify a %100 price increase?

I'd stay away from their lower end models such as the Basic. Just because it's Tein, doesn't mean its the holy grail of suspension.

And what exactly is the basis for that insightful analysis? Please enlighten me.

The upper mount replaces the stock mount which uses a rubber bushing, with a ball and socket joint. This takes some of the "slop" out of the suspension, allowing the suspension to do its job. Sorry, that's not a very technical answer, but I'm no suspension guru. Some searching should yield lots of information should you want to know more.

I wouldn't bother with the upper mounts unless you really want to get into auto-X or road racing.

Yes, the Flex are 2X over the basic, but you also get dampening/rebound adjustment on the shock. There's also the SS in the middle which gets you the adjustable shock, but no upper mount. I don't know if the shock itself is the same between the 3 models. They all run about the same spring rates, so they may be. Tein would probably answer that question.

If you're lowering mainly for looks, I think the basic would be fine. Or the Hypercoil/Koni suggested earlier would be a good choice as well.
