I was told that all I need to do an ABS conversion is the ECU from an ABS car and the ABS control box. Does anybody think this conversion is worth the money and time?

I used to be against ABS because I thought of it as less control over the car. A recent article in Sport Compact Car (the most recent Ultimate Street Car Challange) swayed my opinion.

I participate regularly in SCCA autocross.

What would be a resonable amount of money to pay for an ABS ecu and control box.

Any opinions appreciated. Thanks.

I got kinda excited when I saw there was a reply to the post. Then a little disappointed when I saw it was you commenting that no one had replied. At least you moved it to the top of the list.

You're right. There aren't a lot of people interested in turning or stopping the car. At least not nearly as many as there are who want to go fast in a straight line.

I posted a similar thread a while back and got hardly any responses. I miss ABS and want it on my DSM. I am still cirsing myself for not getting it as an option. Try your local Mitsubishi dealer, they might be able to give you a good idea.

Well I dont think It's worth doing the conversion. I never found it useful in my driving. maybe because I dont slam on the brake. the only time it probably came in useful for me is when It was raining an I had to make a sudden stop. my tires where smooth so I slid anyway(I was a foot away from the other car).

I think I heard you talkin about autocross sometime. I dont know much about that. but If you to like swing/loosen the back end a lil so you can make those tight corners, wouldn't ABS not allow that?

-That simple? There's running of tube, brake modulator, a bunch of wires to run, speed sensors at each wheel, ...and the G sensor.

it is alot of work, it is almost to the point where it would be easier to get another car that has abs.
