I want to run some 18 inch rims on my 97 non turbo maybe 18x10 but at the same tiem i would like to lower it like 1.5 or 2 inchs wanted to know if this is a logical idea or just totaly out of the question. would it actually work or would i rub like hell.

Why? Have you searched at all?
This question is asked about 10x a week even though someone went through and set up a nice guide as to what will work and what won't.

best thing to do is search the forums on wheel/tire sizes. You should get an answer. Sounds like you may need some wheel spacers especially since you're going to lower height. good luck

I did check the forums but im not that car literate so most of it didnt come out to a clear answer as to a 1.5 to 2 inch drop along with some 18 inch wheels. and as to if it rubbed or not alot of people on the forums have said yes 18s and there will be rubbing but some say no rubbing but nothing on 18s and 2 inch drop if it rubs. bones how much of a drop do you have and would i have to "roll" the findders . also im not exactly sure as to what rolling the finders is??????????

He is looking for a 10" wide wheel, he will not need spacers.

If you are going to try to run a 10" wide wheel with that low of a drop, you will need to flare the fenders because there is no wheel that wide that will tuck without hitting the suspension. What wheels are you looking at anyway and why do you feel you need a 10" wide wheel on a non turbo?

I run 18x8 with a 38 offset and it sits flush with the fenders.
When the car was lowered with Eibach Sportlines, the alignment brought back into factory specs, and runninng Nitto tires I had no rubbing issues. -- non rolled fenders
I switched to a better tire (same size) it rubbed the rear like no tomorrow, regardless how much negative camber I put in. Turns out the tires measured wide for their size. -- had to roll the fenders
Something else to keep in mind. Good luck with whatever you do.

thanks for all the help guys. and after reading more on the forums i think im going to see about finding some of the 17 inch evo rims and go for about a 1.5 drop. i know its not much help for my non turbo its mainly for the aggressive look that i like. not like im going to try and be a racer with it or anything just want it to look good.

Look for the Evo X wheels. :sneaky:
Even though they are 18's and you'll probably need to roll the rear fenders.
Aggressive and clean. Just like it should be.

the evo x rims are the mmr's right if so i looked at those but my main thing is i dont want to have to roll the finders just a nice rim with some low profile tires and around a 1.5 drop. but yes the evo x rims are really nice:sneaky:
