Hey guys, I am having an issue with my new Innovate MTX-L wideband kit. I wired it in the same way that many of the how to's show. Also used the ecmtuning mtxl install guide. The gauge will power up, but it won't calibrate.

I am following the instructions of turning it on for at least 30 seconds while unplugged. Then when I plug it in and turn it on, it shows HTR and then after a bit switches to CAL and then stays there. I have called Innovate and they said to try switching power sources. I was powering it from one of the ecu wires, but then I switched to the cig lighter power source after asking Gofer about it. It is still doing the same thing and I'm not really sure where I could start to check. All the connections are soldered and to the correct places. I can't really find any other people who have had the same issue with the kit so I figured I'd ask to see if you guys/gals had any ideas. Thanks!

Can you note where you have connected the necessary wires?

So you followed the instructions - apply power with sensor disconnected for at least 30 seconds, power down, connect sensor (with it in free air) and reapply power. Then watch as HTR appears and stays for 30-60 seconds, and then CAL should appear for only a few seconds followed by an actual AFR (22.4).

Does the sensor actually heat up (can you feel it radiating heat)?

If so, I'd go through this process again, making sure to leave plenty of time (10 minutes) before applying power to the MTX-L without the sensor plugged in. If that doesn't work, see if you can get Innovate to warranty it, test it, etc.

Red - cigarette lighter switched 12v power source
Black - clean chassis ground
White - clean chassis ground
Yellow - rear o2 pin
Brown - unused

Yeah I've done the process 3 times just now trying to get it to work. I re-read the instruction manual a few times now just to see if I'm doing anything wrong. I'll check to see if I actually feel the sensor heat up. I'll report back with any findings and I'll probably call Innovate tomorrow to see if they can provide any further help.

Yeah I've watched the video as well. I just checked to see if the heater is working. I couldn't feel a whole lot of heat coming from it, but if I looked inside the sensor from the tip of it, I could see, what I'm guessing is the heater, glowing orange.

I ended up calling them and they are going to send me a replacement kit and I will be sending mine in for them to test. Great customer service on their part!

I always recommend running a dedicated power wire from battery with inline fuse to a relay. That's what Innovate recommends, and I along with many others have been burned by tapping into random 12v wires around the car.
