I'm just trying to see what the general consensus is in dealing with the 3 styles of gauges. What do you prefer, why do you prefer your choice, pros and cons. I'm posting up 3 separate pictures, don't be judging by the brand posted or their gauge design.

If you feel one style of gauge is better for certain applications over another style please explain why.

I'll start this out. I voted on and prefer the mechanical input and needle. I have not personally had experience with the other kind, but I purchased the one I have because I like it. I am running the a Autometer Pro Comp white face orange needle boost gauge. I have not had any problems with it. The white contrast makes it super east to view. Very easy to install, and reliable.

I like mechanical input for the boost gauge but electrical input for everything else for obvious reasons like not wanting oil in the car.

I also like the needle full sweep with accurate numbers because I'm paranoid that way. I hate when vehicles gauges just show normal or hot or cold.

Same here! I prefer mechanical just because its like hard wired in. It is pulling it directly from a vacuum source. I don't really like electrical gauges, kinda like the stock boost gauge, its electric and almost completely wrong. This is what I am using. It is amazingly responsive and accurate.

I prefer the mechanical gauges. I have a digital gauge and its too bright and annoying compared to my autometer mechanical gauges (oil pressure and boost). If you hook up the oil pressure the right way and with the right kind of tubing which would be copper, you wont have a problem.

If you buy quality electrical gauges you won't have many of the issues detailed here. I prefer them because I like an actual number instead for a guestimate between the small dash and the large 20 dash on a gauge. They can be a bit irritating because the actual numbers fluctuate a lot so you'll see a lot of changes in the gauge if you're bouncing between two numbers (14 and 16 inHg vacuum for instance) but the ability to see an actual number is worth it to me.

I love mechanical for boost guages. I love watching the needle fly every time I hit boost.

For everything else I go digital.

name brand digital led gauges for me. they are more accurate and cant be stressed like a mechanical gauge so it reads off.

Plus with digital gauges they can process faster and adjust quicker than a mechanical gauge can.

for anyone that wants to argue my last point almost all high end sports cars are going led digital because they rev and log data so fast mechanical gauges can no longer keep up.

Agreed.

I like having mechanical for boost, and electric for my water temp and oil pres-no messes in the cabin. The only digital one is my AEM UEGO WB. I love all three, but again its personal preference on what you want and/or what you trust.

This isn't for a decision on what I want to do. I'm just wanting to see how everyone feels on each type of gauge any why they choose them. I'm fine with the gauges I have.

Personally Im growing toward digital needle, I really hate digital display think they are ugly in my opinion.

Mechanical are trusted and reliable as hell all my previous guages were mechanical even oil pressure.

My new guages are aem boost and wideband then just using the stock guage and dummy light for oil pressure, as I find a oil pressure warning light is more likely to get your attention then having to read a guage.

I voted for Digital LED, but I'm referring to this badboy
