So I went to the dyno yesterday. I had high hopes as I had just installed my new external wastegate, cams, and td05h 20g, and dsmlink. First pull. 225 awhp :toobad: WAY to rich. The guys pulls some fuel out and does some other stuff. 270 awhp. better, but I mean really.. 270? ok so we move on... 3rd and 4th pulls.. 281.. then 290. I'm thinking... OK we're getting there. But apparantly I have a SERIOUS knock problem. I have a brand new knock sensor and revised lifters. I was getting 5 degrees of timing advance at 6500 rpms. I'm thinking its the fact that I didn't do the greatest job welding my flapper door closed so it rattles a bit causing maybe some false knock... I hope that's what it is atleast. I'll fix it and see what happens. But overall.. :notgood: not a great day on the dyno. A perk though, my new external gate with atmos dump sounds AWESOME!

What boost levels, fuel, afr were you running? The td05 20g won't make as much power as the bigger tdo6 20g will, but you should be well into the 300's with that thing.

Also what kind of dyno was it?

im getting the same knock as you. im thinking mine is the external dump. i dunno about you but mine is loud as shit when it turns on! my buddy and i were driving around last night and i told him to tell me when it starts picking up knock and sure enough he told me there was knock right when the external dump kicked in. this wasnt a every once in awhile thing either. it was every time.

I'm sure that has much more to do with the fact that you're hitting full boost when your external gate opens. I highly doubt the noise from the external gate would be picked up by the knock sensor.

I've done a boost leak test and everything is fine there. I'm pretty sure it was just the excessively loud rattle of the flapper door causing the false knock. Raw knock count was maxed at 43. And if I was really getting that much knock i'm pretty sure it would've exploded. LOL. My a/f was 11.5:1 and it was i believe a dynojet. I'm thinking with my full 19-22 degrees of advance it would we well into the 300's. We'll see how it does when i go to the track on the 4th and throw 26psi and race gas at it. (once i fix the rattling flapper door of course)

The flapper door is NOT your problem. Put in some race gas at the same boost levels to verify it is not detonation. If the knock persists, I would start looking at mechanical noise setting the knock sensor off.

-shakes my head- So I lied, I didn't do a boost leak test until yesterday. And the results (drum roll) I can't build more then 7psi in my intake track. My intake manifold gasket is dead to say the least. I'll be fixing it tomorrow. -sighs- I should have listened long ago and just done the test last week. :toobad: :coy:

Just think of how good the car will feel when you get it fixed.
