Hey guys! I've had many threads about this car over the past year and a half, and I've decided its time to make a proper build journal :thumb: So let's begin.

In 2009 I got my first DSM. A 1997 Eclipse RS. Still own the car today and love it dearly. After doing some research and whatnot about mods and DSMs in general I decided I needed a turbo DSM. So for the next few months I searched for one and kept finding cars way out of my price range. Being in high school that price range was very low ROFL So I quit looking for awhile.

It was July 2, 2011. My best friend that I grew up with happened to call me. He says hey bro I'm at my uncle's house right now and he's got an Eclipse in his garage he wants to sell. Interested? So I asked him how much and what model. He proceeded to tell me it was a 1995 GS-T. That immediately caught my attention. He was asking $600. I thought about it for the next several hours. Then I asked my dad about it, and we called him that night and set it up to look at it the next day.

July 3rd. We got there and the car was almost literally in a box. Just about everything was taken out of the car and scattered in the garage. I didn't care what it looked like, I just saw my dream car staring me in the face. So we talked him down to $500, and started loading a majority of the guy's garage onto our trailer. So here's the beauty we drug home

Skip ahead to October 2011
So after the car sat there in a bunch of pieces for a few months we decided to pull it up into the garage and get it going. Took a weekend, a few trips to Pull-A-Part and Auto Zone, but me and my dad got it going relatively quickly for not knowing anything about turbo cars. And here it was all back in there.

So after that night we took it out for a drive the following day

We got it all buttoned up and multicolored just in time to drive it to my school's homecoming football game. And here she was, in all her multicolored glory haha.

Sadly after the game my alternator died on me in the driveway. :notgood: So we got that fixed and I continued to drive it occasionally for the next few months. (Would've been my daily but I couldn't drive stick all that well at the time)

December 2011
After all this I kept gathering up the parts to finish the 2gb conversion. And we happened to pick up a 3rd car while getting the rest of those parts. We never did get around to putting the high rise spoiler on the car, but I'm kinda glad we didn't. And you'll see why soon enough.

January 2012
After getting the rest of the parts we got them installed and the car paint one color just in time for the local DSM/Evo meet/dyno day. I didn't get the 2gb skirts on in time but me and my dad still had fun cruising up there together in both my cars.

February 2012
So February rolls around and I start looking into Talons. I realize I like them a lot and would rather have 1 Talon and 2 Eclipses instead of having 3 Eclipses. So after about almost a month of possible sales/trades of the car none of them go through. So I decided what the heck I'll make a Talon, people go the other way all the time so it can't be too hard. So in the month of February I picked up tail lights, the long piece to the twisty skirts and a thumbnail spoiler (which I decided not to use and later sold)

March 2012
March rolls around and I got the airbag, front bumper, rear bumper, thing spoiler, the rest of the skirt pieces, and headlights. So by this point I basically had it all together. I also decided to swap to black and tan interior I had in the other car we picked up back in December. So I started disassembling the car again.

Parts! Parts everywhere!!!!

April 2012
So after slowly slowly progressing on this conversion day by day something really sucky happened....
My beloved daily driver, the RS, got totaled in the school parking lot....
IMG_0437.jpg

kid flew in there as we were leaving and demolished my whole front end. more on that story here:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/433676-well-sucks.html
so needless to say I had to have my parents drive me to school that day, seeing as how my Talon was still in a million pieces, once again.

So we got it back together very quickly. Installed a new exhaust, and here she was in her multicolored glory once again LOL
IMG_4657.jpg

June 2012
So May rolls around and I got some new wheels for it. 3g Eclipse "GSX style" wheels. But it wasn't until June that I got new tires for it. So here they are, complete with Eagle center caps ;) Also got some 2gb talon fogs in perfect shape.

July 2012
July rolls around and we get ready for a trip to Import Alliance Charlotte. So we gave it another "fresh" coat of walmart paint, and plastidipped the wheels. We also installed the catless downpipe from my other car.

She made the road trip just fine, despite breaking a very old and rusted strut on the crappy roads over there and losing all accessory power in the pouring rain due to a faulty turbo timer wiring harness. Needless to say not very fun LOL. But we did have a good time. Here she was at Summer IA.

Skip ahead a few months....

September 2012
We took the Talon to the local dragstrip and had some fun with it. By this point I have done the BCS restrictor mod. So I'm pushing about 14psi. this is a video of one of the runs from that night. Best run of the night was a 9.63 (this is a 1/8th mile track)

November 2012
I got my black eagle airbag installed. We go to Import Alliance Nashville.
group_zpsc3ac7a2b.jpg

This is all of us minus that 240 to the left. We all had a lot of fun cruising up there, but I swear IA is bad luck for my car. Why? Well on the way home the day right after I busted my trans :ohdamn: Main bearing let go. So we swapped that trans out with one we had from the other car. (thing has come in handy!)
Oh and heres a nice rolling shot from that trip up :thumb:

January 2013
January rolls around and I have now gotten my tan leather seats installed and my headliner redone.
IMG_1182_zpsebfe304c.jpg

Also installed some mods I got for Christmas. Hard intercooler piping, 1g bov, 3" intake, mbc, short throw shifter, polyurethane shifter bushings, and a tubular manifold.

February 2013
And so here we are. Car as it sits has quite a few mods done now, and a full 2gb Talon conversion. It has the front bumper, rear bumper, spolier, skirts, door moldings, center caps, spark plug cover, owner's manual, tail lights, driver's side airbag, oem eagle key, emblems, and right now I'm currently trying to purchase the rare quarter windows. Car will be getting a new motor here shortly. Low mileage 99 factory replacement motor with 10,000 original miles. Came with a new t25, intake, and everything. Picked it up for quite a steal. Well Just about everything on this car I've paid dirt cheap for. Its come a long way and been a fun trip. Next step is 300whp and paint. Car is getting painted white, with the signature black top the Talon's have. And my carbon fiber hood is getting painted black as well. Currently working on the black housing headlight mod and gather funds to drop in the motor, clutch, flywheel, DSMlink v3, 650cc injectors, and rewired fuel pump. Only things I'm currently lacking is the paint, motor compenets such as timing belt, and dsmlink. The car I pulled a lot of stuff out of for this one is on a pending sale. So once that goes through and my income tax is in, expect the car to look something along these lines. With red lettering of course.

So stayed tuned to the build for more updates :D

Also for a more detailed look at the Talon conversion You can check out the original thread, here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/appearance-interior-exterior/426931-eclipse-talon-conversion-questions.html

I loved watching all of this become! Because of Josh's determination and Corey's build. They have got me involved into the Talon Game. I am now about to buy a Talon and do the 2GB swap to it.

Looking forward to seeing thus build complete it self and as well as working with you on building my Project. :talon:

February 22nd
Update already! Some parts came in over the week. My new 6puck unsprung clutch and 2300 pressure plate from XTD, my red Eagle oil cap, and the Eagle keychain! Still continuing to order parts, my lightweight flywheel is on its way.
IMG_1374_zps21312eda.jpg

I'm getting both of those Eagle items soon!!!

Copy cat phase one begins!!! But I told you about the key chain so doesn't count!!!!

NICE! I have a 95 talon TSi and I bought it with eclipse gsx 2gb conversion, and eversince I got it I keep thinking on converting it back to talon 2gb or a kind of hibrid with custom body kit that resembles the offspring of a talon and an eclipse... anyway if I do it I will post it

Your words have hurt me. No one should do a Talon to Eclipse conversion! :ohdamn:  :nono: :notgood:

The 2GB Talon game is hard. People want to much for the items of you can't find them.

I have the 2GB fogs and Wing. Just need the Rear/Front bumpers to go for my conversion. Then I sand down the body and paint the car.

hahaha I think everyone is entitled to their opinion or way to do things, even if it is wrong hahaha

I personaly hate the talon wings, bot high and low rise, and also the eclipse low rise wing, and it does not mean they´re ugly, its just that I don´t like 'em...

And I know the parts may be rare or hard to find, but you can always go custom... some selfmade front bumper will be nice...

It didn't take me as longas I thought to find them, but when I was looking it seemed like every 2gb talon on earth was being parted out. I guess I just got lucky. Irregardless its been a fun journey, and you'll have fun with it as well. :thumb:

February 22
Well I got my other car sold today! Which means that the Talon will be getting all the remaining engine components it needs tomorrow! :D

Here's the GS-T loaded up on the trailer with all her components and new owner.
IMG_1376_zps9d1160ea.jpg

I'll miss it, but I sure made good use out of that car. I know the new owner will have it up and running very soon. In the year and some change I had the car, I just didn't have the time to get it going. Too many projects. But the money I got from it will definitely help with the build. Bye bye GS-T, you will be missed.

Well thats one sexy car. Can't wait to get it running! Frankenstein here I come :)

About time you put this in a build thread rather than just adding on to that question thread. Ita much easier to see the progress. Nice work man.

I know it was pretty tacky doing it that way, I was just lazy ROFL Thanks for the inspiration and help you given me Corey. You've been a very big help to me, even though you give me hell about copying you :p

Its Christmas again! haha :D
IMG_1394_zpsb8e8cc9f.jpg

All my parts came in yesterday, and link came in today. Also bought my fresh oil and new tan floor mats yesterday, and lowering springs and a camber kit off a local guy today. Car is just lacking new struts and paint now, I'm so excited!

It will be X-Mas for me soon!!! LOL

I am still waiting on my parts and I am also gonna buy some Mobil 1 oil at Walmart tomorrow hahah... Or this weekend.... I need to make 3 copies of the key!!!

Ok so for the past week I've been playing with DSMlink and sanding at every chance I get. So this is how its looking right now. (mines in the middle, if you can't tell, this was taken at work.) All I have left to buy now is the paint. I got the primer and everything else needed to for stage 1 of body work. Which is about through. Next week is my buddy's spring break so he will work on painting the car for me at my house while I'm at school/work. :D Its all so very close.

A few small little things to post tonight. Took the car on a tail of the dragon run wednesday and sanded some more.

Also my buddy shot a little video LOL. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmevspODGJ0]Talon Run - YouTube[/ame]

Today I swapped out my broken hvac controls and peeling black airbag. And picked up a free 14b. Seemed like a pretty good day to me LOL.

Well today I kinda blew up my t25... LOL. My tax return should be here within the week. So I'm redoing the suspension, paint can come later. I'm tired of getting the money for it and then having something come up. Anyways. Thats all I have for right now guys. Been pretty broke and busy with college. I'll kepp everyone updated as usual.

i enjoyed reading through your thread man. everythings lookin good. keep at it.
