I bought a 97 eagle talon from a dealer for 1500 bucks. It was on their backlot, they got in on trade and said it didn't run at all. I jump started it, and they said the tranny was completely gone. I pushed in the clutch put it in 1st and it rolled around their lot just fine but made a horrible clackin noise from the front passenger side (cv half shaft) I paid them the money and on the way home the car's tranny locked up and I had to have it towed home.....when it was pulled/pushed off the trailer, the tranny works fine again, but the clunking is much more pronounced....took the cv half shaft out and it definitely has a lot of play in it and a couple splines are chewed up, I'm ordering a new one....but is their anyways to tell if the tranny is completely shot or not?
