Help, is this normal after new clutch install?

I just finished putting in a X-ACT streetlight flywheel, CFDF clutch, and the SS braided clutch line and removed the restrictor. I also bled the slave cylinder after doing all this.

My clutch is engaging about 1-2 inches off the floor, it is engaging great, i love it. The pedal pressures seems a tad lighter than stock actually though. This is worrying me plus the distance at which it is engaging, although it feels good, is it normal to be engaging like that.

Just to be sure, is bleeding the clutch the same as brakes, cuz that is how i did it, pumped clutch, opened bleed screw into clear line into a coke bottle full of brake fluid till no bubbles.

Also, what about the break in period that comes with the clutch. Does everyone pay attention to it or not? it says 400-500 mile break in phase prior to putting any serious stress on it such as racing an launches.

Thanks in advance guys

that is normal when putting a new clutch in, it will go away over time, and it will stiffen up.....just takes a little bit of driving. Dont worry man, your in good shape

i observe the 500 mile break in, thats 500 miles of city driving too remember, cruising on the highway does not work the clutch, you need proper break in so that the flywheel surface, disk, and pressure plate surface "wear" into eachother properly, if you just try to romp it you risk glazing the crap out of the disk and lessening the clutch's gripping power...

I am doing the break in phase of it. I live in the city in charleston, so i don't do any highway driving. Plus traffic here like 24/7, i hate it. kinda glad i don't have the act 2600. my calf would look like arnolds by now i'm sure. I think I overfilled the tranny though, leaking a tad from the axle. I have been parking it in a different spot everytime to see if it stops. I think all the excess has leaked out now though.

the seal is not busted. It is normal if you over fill the transaxle for the excess to come out the axles. I filled it up when i had the nose jacked up in the air. It usually at level only takes 2.5 liters. I put the entire 3 liters in it and that is why it is leaking. It has stopped now.

From what Ive learned you fill the trans on level ground and if you have over filled it it will come out the overflow hole( Then put the bolt in), if its leaking out a seal then the seal is no good, dont come crying back when your tranny locks up!

i understand what you mean. I of coarse know that when it comes out the hole it is full. but my car was at a decline when i filled it up. so that means it took more fluid than normal. It only leaked out about half a liter. I think i would notice if i had 3 liters of oil sitting in my driveway don't you? I'm sure you know what you are doing. And your answer is a good one. But sorry, in this case, you are wrong. My seals are fine. Also, check out this from the famous Haynes manual. U see. This is under the transaxle section. There are several different things that could be it. But since i know it's not my seals, and now it has stopped leaking. Let's go to the next most possible thing... i over filled it, b cuz i know i did for a fact.

Well, son of a bi***!!!! I did a clutch job last month and my passenger side seal was leaking, both times i took the seal out and put a new one in, and now I got no leaks weird. I learned something new!

well, son of a bi***. i drained about 1/2 a liter of oil out when i over filled it about a 1/2 liter and damn, it stopped leaking, i just went out to my car after the last post and checked under it with a flashlight.. dry as a bone. I learned something too! You had bad seals, i don't. You no longer have a leak, nor do I. Let's leave it at that. If my tranny locks up, i swear to god i will not blame you man.

Umm, if your leaking from the cv shaft area.. its BAD, its not "overflow" that is DUMB, think about it, the cv shafts are like at the LOWEST part of the tranny, if they leak.. they leak.. period..

this nice little graphic you posted

this is just the probability for a leaking TRANNY, not for the CV shaft area..

see #1 THAT is probably the problem..

the only leak from overfilling will be from.. the overfill hole, NOT from the CV shafts, if they leak they are either not together fully, or faulty.

my tranny was leaking to from the axle seal so i replaced it with a brand new one and it still leaks! so i definitly think over filled it with gear oil so hopefully thats why its leaking... its a brand new seal too. im going to see if it stopps eventually.... oh yea and it dosent leak just sitting there it only leaks wen i drive because that axle is spinning

my ACT 2100 felt odd right after the install. Just drive it and break it in, don't drive it if its slipping of course, but adjust it to where it works properly and break it in, its all good.

I had that problem one time, turned out my axle had become a tad rusty where the seal met up with it causing it to only leak while driving. Even if you did overfill with gear oil which is kinda hard to do, its not magically gonna leak until its at the level it wants to bem its gonna leak until your outta gear oil. ;)

Bottom line is this: If you overfilled your transmission or any component at that.., the fluid will seek to escape somewhere.. even if it has an overflow port or something...fluids are incompressible... if there is any fluid leaking out of any seal.. it's a bad seal, or a bad seal. if you know what i mean...
