Ok
One night about the second week of December my car started poping out of second gear and had shifter movement in all gears when going on and off the throttle. Before then i had no shifter movement and second gear shifted fine.
So i parked it and said to my self it was the 2nd gear sinchros(sp) Ill have to get it rebuilt yada yada yada...
fast forward to last sunday,
It was a nice 70 degree January 4th
(consider its 20 and snowing now,) and I decided to take my car to a friends house and mess with the shift linkage to see if it was out of adjustment.
So I get in put it in 1st and move forward just fine excpet for shifter movement. But it in reverse and backed up and it felt like the parking break was on
. I though it was the rear breaks sticking from siting so long, so i put it back in 1st and start to go down my road and it feels fine and the breaks are not draging.
So i decide to stop and try reverse again before i go any further. So i put her in reverse and let off the clutch and it feel like its draging again so I push in the clutch to let the car coast back ward a few feet and it rolled for 3 feet and binded up to a stop. I go to put in in 1st and the shifter is stuck in reverse I let off of the clutch to see if i can get it to move backward and it goes binding like before but I could get it out gear this time.
So I try reverse again and it move under its one power but like a break was draging a little but when i pushed in the clutch to coast again it binded to a stop in 3 or 4 feet. It feels like a wind up car when it get wound to tight and the spring stops.
So i try 1st again it it goes fine, theni try coasting back ward withthe trans in 1st and it rolls just fine.
Im stumped.
