axel removal help

well i learned my axel seals are bad. im wondering how bad is it to remove the axels. do you have to take the spindal off to acces the hub assembly part of the axel. any info will help me out.

but it isnt that hard, once youve done it once, redoing it is faily easy and fast too
 
well this sucks.. i have the drive side axel out it was a breeze. but now i have the passenger side to do. well this isnt goin well... ive hit it but not to hard. so im thinkin just spend the 60 bucks for a new one and beat the hell out of the old one with a hammer...... anyone agree?

i would/did... but i took mine out with the intention on new ones.

I take it you've remove the lower strut bolts - cut the steering whhel hard right & pried OUT at the Tranny (you don't want to try & beat the shaft INTO the Tranny - must have some slack)

Be aware you CAN take out the wheel bearing if you just beat the shit out of it - You can actually cup the inner Circlip retaining the Inner wheel bearing if you get outright pissed & violent - Put some Heat (propane Torch) on the outer hub as you fram it & turn it as you do - Might want to replace Inner wheel bearing seal & repack bearing if you heat it...
 
YAY... finally that lil son of a bia came out.. i came down to using a axel press and i tapped it then sluged the shit out of the axel :shhh: and it started moving and slowy she finaly came out.

but no i removed the intire shock then upper a-arm bolts and it came easy. everything turned out good to my knowledge but im having a friend cominv over just to be safe.
