Whenever i shift into 2nd i hear a grinding sound and it kinda feels softer than other gears. Can someone please tell me whats wrong.

Your synchro rings are most likely worn. Consequently, the sleeve of the synchro and the synchro teeth of the 2nd gear will experience faster wear and will have to be replaced sooner or later.
Try to raise the clutch engagement point to 1/4 of the total pedal travel off the floor and replace your tranny fluid with BG Synchroshift or GM Synchromesh.

yeah, ur 1-2 syncro is gone. I had the same problem with my 91 AWD and i bought $600 worth the parts to replace EVERYTHING in the 1-2 area, ie 1-2 Gears, Hub Sleeve, Synro rings, keys clips, 1-2 Shift fork, Bearings.. and it turned out to be ALOT worse, so i ended up buying a Factory Tranny. If you want, im looking to sell the Brand New Mitsu partsi have to fix ur problem....Let me know dude
