Well im yet another victim of a screwed up bell housing. it started off as a hefty crack, but then when i was tryin to wrestle the damn trans out by myself (got my uninstall time down to an hour and 15 min), i forgot about the little dowel pin that helps line the trans up. Well im movin the jack to seperate the trans from the block and snnnapppppppp.. my crack turned into a chunk. the dowel pin help the trans destroy its self before i got the chance to!! well check the pictures out and see what you think. Im gonna try to get it welded and hope it holds. BUT its in one of them areas (right between the slave and the fork) so im worried about the high pressure thats gonna be applied to the weld. Any thoughts?

Damn Shame isn't it? The bell housing on my tranny broke when it was taken out as well!! Luckily, I was putting a tranny with about 100,000 less miles on it in instead =-) How's the saying go, "Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you!" You may be able to weld it, take it to a tranny shop & ask for a professional's opinion, that'd be ur best option...

yeah it sucks..this thing only has 86,000 miles on it...well at least the case does. it looks like its been rebuilt from the silicone sealant seeping from the case. i really hope i dont have to replace this trans becasue of this! i know some awsome welders, so i guess ill have to take it to them when i get a chance. im just glad no one has siad "the trans is junk!"... gives me some hope!

I broke the same bolt boss off of mine over two years ago. If you take it to a GOOD PROFESIONAL welder (not some shmoe with a mig in his garage) it should be no problem. Work with him to be sure everything is aligned properly and clean the area really well. It sure beats trashing an otherwise good tranny.

yeah he tapered the inside and outside, and then layed a bead on both sides. he did such a good job that i didnt have to grind it down any. I just got the trans back in the car tonight... man its a bi*** to put that up in there and align it alone! ehh i guess 2 hours isnt a bad time.

(ps.. sorry bout the poor pictures... they were takin with my phone)

Looks Good! :thumb: Who welded it? How much did it cost you? You really shouldn't grind down a good weld. For one, there's no reason to, and two, a professional likes to have his handi-work shown off! Looks like he did a good job!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone! :D

my dad works with a guy that just got a new alunminum welder...so he siad hed do it. Cost me nothing.....cost my dad a dosen doughnuts. SO far so good.. got the trans in, and took it for a test drive. I re bled the slave with the stock rod (i have act 2600 w/ longer rod) like i was told to do, but now im engaging an inch off the floor. so i gotta fix this problem now....

yeah thanks for the link guys. one thing that is buggin me though is that be for i cracked the bellhousing, i bled the slave with the long rod in... and everything was fine... then i bleed it with the short rod, then put the longer rod in... and its all screwed up. You think just by bleeding it with the long rod might fix my problems?

I dont know it looks like u coppied it from somewhere and it was shortened, so i just put in the thread id and posted the new link for them..

Wierd... Merry christmas.
