ok, don't flame me for asking, but I just wanted to know, how can i make my shifter click everytime i shift, just like the green eclipse in the first fast and furious movie???? any help is appreciated!

Your best bet is a Symborski kit. Sometimes it clinks...

Man this has to be the hardest question I've ever answered, because I REALLY think those effects were overdubbed in the movie...

if you really want your shifter to clink loudly when you shift, yeah, the symbiorski kit will do that. you can also drain out all your transmission fluid and slam every gear, that'll do it too. just be careful though, or you might blow your intake manifold.

you could also hook up an mp3 player to your stereo with the playback rigged up to a sensor on the shift lever. every time you shift it just plays that sound effect.

that would at least be a little more in reality. ;P

it makes about as much sense as asking how you can make your shifter clank like the bolt on a rifle every time you move it.

ok, i knew i was gonna get flamed before i posted it. but I just really wanted to know. I will try that kit you guys suggest. and if anyone else know of any other way, please let me know, even if the advice will come with some humiliation...thanks guys

Mine kinda does that. I replaced the shifter cables, but one of the clips that holds them in place didn't hold the new one tight enough. Everytime I change rails(move to one side or the other) that clip makes a clicking noise as it chucks one way or the other. I guess I will have to rig up some shim because I tried to bend it a little more to get more tension, but that wasn't enough.

Please, post with a reasonable subject line. "???" is not a descriptive title to a post.

To your question: shifter plate bushings combined with under-hood shift cable bushings will definitely harden the shift which, if you slam from gear to gear, will produce a noise, but it's not going to sound "fast and furious", it's going to sound like you're abusing your transmission and shifter.

The best way to get that sound would probably be to sign a deal with Miramax.

Yeah. Your best bet is using a Digital Foley, but if you can't afford that, you might want to hit up a toy store for one of those tin crickets that has the piece of metal in the bottom, duct-tape it to the side of your shifter knob, and work on your coordination with it. Keep in mind there's some flex before it clicks, so it's harder to do than it would seem.

I doubt you'll ever get that kind of sound out of a cable-operated shift mechanism.
