banging noise. possibly from tranny

when i shift hard. theres a bang from the front. (the bang can be felt)
the same bang can be heard without the use of the tranny, when i release then punch the gas the same bang can be heard from the front.
ex: gas>clutch>quick shift>gas>Bang!>churp!

whats going on?

Check your motor mounts. I bet either one or more is loose-broke, or they are just worn out.

on my way to work i tried to make more observations on where the sound is exactly coming from and when it is exactly occuring. my observations are as follows:
thump/bang sound comes from the front end can be felt from the front. the thump/bang noise occurs when either the clutch or the gas is quickly stepped on. seems like the quick decelleration or accelleration is causing the thump/bang effect.
hope this helps to make better hypothesis about my problem.

hey i just spoke with a friend who got new motor mounts. he didnt have any of my symtoms when he needed a new mount.

any other suggestions on whats going?

Trust me every car is different. Maybe his weren't as worn out as yours "may" be and therefor wasn't making any noise when/if they were bad. I'm not saying yours are broke but maybe a bolt fell out or something and therefor letting the mount hit the frame. I've been thrrough all the noises on a car and your's sounds like it pertains to the mounts. Check everything else also. Nobody is gonna know what's wrong with your car, even your buddy, until you actually look at it closely and figure it out. I'm just giving pointers.
