I installed a ACT 2600 clutch in my FWD talon tsi mildly modded and now 2 to 3 months i have broken a tooth off the front diff. ive read that hard acceleration and a heavy duty clutch(act 2600) will cause this on the stock front diff. has any of yall with the act clutches and all stock trannys had this problem? please give me some info. thanks.

Wow that sucks man, I have the 2600 in my Gsx and I know i have to be careful launching, When i do i let everything engage before I dump the clutch which i think helps a lot but maybe it's me. How do you drive it do you do burn outs, launch a lot? and what kind of tires are you running(wider sticky you know what i mean) let me know because i havent had any problems yet and would recommend the 2600 to everyone

You need to slip a 2600 more on an FWD, or you will break stuff.

On a fwd I would have went 2100, but as ^^ said, You will need to slip the 2600 more, Hell I have to slip the 2600 on my awd. The clutch grabs like crazy!

what do you mean by slip? you mean just not launch as hard or actually do something to it. and how would I go about slipping it? please help thanks.

haha *laf*

go to the track forums theres a good thread on drag racing.

I have an act 2600 on my fwd w/quaife, but no it wasnt youre clutch that busted youre diferential it was wheel hop, read about it so you can get a better understanding. its when youre wheels hop on an acceleration and youre axles wich are attached to youre diferential jump up and down therefore breaking the teeth.

here you go, happy reading.

but even thought i have had a little wheel hop in the past i wasnt experiencing any that night or even driving hard that nite when it started to happen. is that just because it finally just skrewed up or what. i was teaching my gf how to drive a manual(my car) that night before it broke and she stalled alot with rough jults could that have anything to do with it? i just want to know because i dont want to fix it then it happen again just because i have a hard clutch and i want to be able to shift hard with no worries. is there any cheaper but stronger front diff i can get 900 bucks is quite a bit for a 17 year old.
