trans stuck in 2nd

Hi, i am new to the dsm tuners web site and was hoping someone could help me

Just this weekend i changed my automatic transmission because my old one did not go reverse. i bought a trans a the junk yard for a 125. dollars. after the installation, i properly filled the trans with ATF plus fluid and took for a test drive. when i was backing up everything seemed normal. but when i put it in drive and tried to take off, it went reaaly slow. it seems to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear.

if any has any ideas on what it could be, i would really apprieciate any help i could get

I had the same problem, you transmission is in Limp Mode, stay in 3rd gear all the time. Its usually one of two problems, either blown transmission fuse, or as it was in my case your TCU is shot. I bought mine from the Trader for $75 and now the tranny works like a charm. I believe the VFAQ shows you how to pull your transmission codes. Go over to DSM Talk they have lots of topics on it since they have a section just for automatic's.
