Will placing an aluminum flywheel in when i do my clutch change lower my chances of getting the dreaded crankwalk? I have been reading up on this and all I can seem to find out is that a lighter weight flywheel puts less stress on the crank, so it just seems logical to me. Please post any info or links u can to help a brotha out!:thumb:

I read that some where too from the site where I'm gonna order my motor mounts from. Not sure if there bsing or what. How does a 6 bolt flywheel compare to a 7 bolt? One lighter then the other at all?

It's lateral force on the crankshaft that causes thrust bearing wear, not the weight of the flywheel. So if you bolt on a stock clutch, you're only putting 420-470 lbs on the thrust bearings, compared to around 710 with an ACT 2600. It's all right here:

The 6 bolt flywheel fits the 89-92 1/2 crankshaft and the 7 bolt fit's the 92 1/2-99 crankshaft. As far as I know they both weigh approximately the same

No.

It has to do with the genes you got from your mother, and your overall luck.

I've still not found a _true_ "reason" for CW, but I tend to go along with what the DSM.org site said in the late nineties: Mits had a batch with bad materials.
