1g Short Shifter

Hey guys...sorry if I'm missing the answer to this, but I searched lots and still came out unsuccessful. So, is there any company that makes a short shifter for a 1g laser, particularly a 1990 one? Also, would you recommend the urethane shifter bushings from RRE over the Symborski kit? I really would appreciate any help you all can give, thanks in advance.

Sorry, nothing's left for the 90. Mofugas used to make one, but they're long gone. You might try the various DSM classifieds, and see if you get lucky.

Okay, I found out something. The Extreme Technologies short shifter that's listed in the Parts Catalog on here, can be found on ExtremeMotorsports.com! They carry that along with some other products for the '89-'90 laser/eclipse/talon. Check it out guys.

EDIT: Damnit, I'm not so sure about this one now because it says that it's a cut down OEM one. What do you guys think of that?

sorry to jack your post, but i too was wondering if there was anyone out there who makes a good (meaning-no complaints with the product) short throw shifter for the 1g (92)? thanks.

Cutting down the top part of the stick is a workable solution, although it's not _really_ a "short shifter".

A 2G knob helps a lot, too.

Thanks Defiant I'll try to get the 2g knob then. I knew it isn't a "true" short shifter but it is shorter and would make a difference. ...So I guess no companies move the pivot point of the 1g then.

What about the "short shift mod" found on www.vfaq.com ?

Seems like as long as you make the bolt "stops" that it works pretty well.

Thanks for the info...that's probably gonna be too much work for my means though. I don't have the tools for all of those modifications to the shifter assembly, but I have a friend that can maybe help me out. Thanks again for all your help.

Maybe they made it like long time ago, because he bought that car from somebody else already modded.

I think that RAZO might still be making one. When I bought my car it already had a few mods on it, and one of them was a RAZO short shifter. I'm very certain that they did make it because there was decals of the RAZO shifter pattern (ie:1-2-3-4-5-R) and the RAZO lettering right beside the shift boot. Wether they still make one though I don't know.

I just tossed in a $3 (Thanks to the local junk yard) 2G knob in my 90 laser and it felt hella shorter verses the big joystick stock thingy, and looks alot better too.....

its a horse dick i use the "stock 2g knob" from machv.com its weighted and i have heard that its actualy out of an evo, idk though all i know is i love it it slides right into gear.
