Okay here's the deal. I bought a 91' Talon TSi AWD for $300. i had it taken to a shop to have all the work done to it. I told the mechanic that the tranny wouldn't go into 5th. Mind you I still haven't driven it yet. After taking care of everything else, he checks the tranny out and tells me that power is only going to the rear wheels and I need a new transmission. I trust him, but I want to know how this can happen. I know the power is only going to the rear wheels because i saw the car in the shop on a lift running and only the rear wheels were spinning.please tell me what happened in my trans to make this happen and where I can find another one for fairly cheap. Thank you guys in advance for your help.

:cry:I put $1100 into it and I still can't drive it!

Sounds like your center differential might be blown. When that happens, power will either go to the rear only or the front only, so that may be your problem.

Suggestion - go with a 4-spider gear center diff from BMtranny or TRE (should be in the parts catalog) - it'll last longer than the normal center diff.
