riverview,
has anyone ever done this? here's my situation, my 2nd gear is totally un-usable, is grinds and doesn't stay in. the kid that had the car before me really did a number on it. basically i'm broke and i want my 2nd gear back, a local dsm guy will fix it for $700 that doesn't include takin out the tranny or putting it back it which i can do myself.

i was thinking... there someone on my local boards selling a 92 fwd tranny in perfect working order, i was just going to use it for now until that 2nd gear syncro goes then i'll be able to afford to get that rebuild with better forks and syncros and all. i've asked someone and he told me it'll work there's just some mods you have to do to the brakets or something.

i'm just tryin to find out if anyone has done this since i hear the 92 tranny has better gears and a 3/4 hub than a 2g tranny. i'd appreciate any help i can get here.

just buy a 2nd gear and its synchro and put it in yourself, its not really THAT hard, i did it yesterday, just remember how you took all the gears and stuff out..
