I hope this is the best forum for this question.
Here's what I have got. I have a 91 tsi 5speed. The body has some major rust spots in the jams and around the wheel wells. I have a complete fresh motor to go in. I just found a 91 2wd n/t auto, for free. (It has no title) The body have very little rust on it. So I was going to swap very thing for my tsi to the body of the n/t. Do you thing that is a feasible idea? Or should I cut the panels that I need out and weld them into my car? Thanks

ahhh yeah. Just replace the body panels and get the thing painted. 1000X times cheaper and easier. I have no ####en clue what you would have to do to get the rear in, it's hard enough to swap the front, the back will send you to mental instituon or to jail for killing someone.

I thought, strip the new one to a shell, do a color change. Get some junk jard parts, like wiring, clutch/brake assembly, ect. Then swap every thing else from mine. It sounds good. Mabye time consuming, but it would be like having a new car. Plus look at the fun I would be having.

I don't know man, it all depends. I'm not sure that the undercarriage is the same as an AWD car so you might wonna check that out. Plus if you are going to do it I would recomend signing up for some anger managment classes because you are going to need them:thumb:

The underbody is completely different, so you can cut out the rusty one and weld it into the rust free car. :thumb:

It is possable, just not easy. You could get a FWD tranny and put the turbo motor in the N/T car but leave it FWD. Alot easier, but no fun traction like stuff.

Can you find the clue hidden here?
[Notice the only person suggesting it might work is a Non-DSMer.]

And if I had said not possable I would have been flamed for that. It is possable, as is anything, with enough time, work, and/or money. AWD turbo B-series CRX has been done, as have many other things that should be impossable.

So the bodys are not the same? A awd rear crossmember won't bolt in?
Has anybody tryed to do this?

I still think that you would save alot of time and money just buy fixing up your old body. And if the stupid idea of cutting out the undercarriage comes to mind forget about it. One of these days u might end up going sideways. Don't mess with a unibody
