What do you guys think about the Phantom Grip LSD compared to a normal LSD?? Does anybody have one??

I have one....It is great.

I have the quaife, ITS AWESOME.... A must have. Ive never driven the inserted lsd before so i cant compare but, the quiafe is everything people say it is.....

See I thought about buyin the Quaife but I figured why spend all that money if the insert is just as good. But thats what I was wounderin, is it just as good? Cause its alot cheaper.

Hell yeah, i can vouch for Quaife, BAD ASS.:thumb: , havnt tried the inserts but, i dont think its worth taking out a transmission having the lsd installed then re installing the tranny 6 months later booom. start over.
Quaife=life time warranty

actually the quaife reallly sucks on dsms. The phantom grip or other similar lsd work for fwd. If you talk to ppl at TRE they will tell you that the Kaaz is better or the upgraded spider gear. The quaife is not life time quarantee for dsm so i've heard. TRE tells me that something on the quaife is just to thin to withstand the stress awd puts them through.

just some info i thought you should know.

There have been no long term reports of the inserts holding up. The quaife/kaaz units are designed posi units. My only gripe about the quaife is that it requires both wheels to have some sort of traction to work.. and it it possible to over power the unit and then it becomes an open carrier again. Said reason makes the kaaz better. It can't be over powered and will operate normally even if one wheel completely loses traction.

they are definatly not just as good, i have driven both the quafie and bm fwd's (mine has quafie) and its a lot nicer, better traction, turns etc, but the bm is also a nice unit. if you got the money buy a quafie or kaza

I'm going to be buying the BM Tranny one, as soon as I have the spare money. There is someone on dsmtalk, who has 30,000 miles on one and it is still holding up just fine. Mike Huml also told me he actually prefers the BM unit to the quiafe, and switched out his quiafe out for one. That sold me on it, and besides the money just isn't here for the quaife.

okay, i never heard that before, but thanks for posting. Instigater try calling around, try roadrace, i have heard of people killing the quife on all wheel drives , and every incident they got it replaced for free. I was told by road race that there has never been an instince that they had seen a fwd blow the quaife. im not saying that it doesnt happen, but it must not happen often. oh and Yes it does come with life time, you get youre certificate and everything, with the serial number.

Ok the quaife kicks ass on a dsm. I had a quaife in mine. A buddy had the inserst on his car. Mine was a ton better. Even he agreed.

As for the life time warranty. YES the front diff in lifetime. The center diff is not under lifetime warranty.

I think Sactome98 was talking about the Quaife center diff, not the front diff.

The Quaife Center diff has been known to cause problems, the 4 spider gear center diff is much stronger.

The Quaife Front diff is the best, no problems. I emailed Jon@TRE a few days ago about a problem I was having with my front diff, and he replied," just get a Quaife"

Okay Noobie question, does Kazz or anyone else make a LSD for the center diff? Because I've heard the problems with the Quaife but haven't seen any other options.

I'm pretty sure I saw the Kaaz center diff somewhere. Maybe RRE? Check the vendors, I'm sure there's a couple that have it. Try DiamondStarSpecialties.com they like to turn the wheel now and then.
