Because I will be pulling the engine, I want to replace the engine mounts (not motor mounts LOL). I was reading GVTalon's how-to article and it got me thinking. I was going to still push the plastic cutting board stuff into the mounts, only I was going to fill them different. I am going to fill them with polyurathane from Home Depot. It should be about the same.

Now will adding the board pieces alone make the mounts as stiff as inserts or so? How stiff do you think it will be when I am finished? Would this mod compare to aftermarket engine mounts? In his review, I didn't really see how they compare to aftermarket.

Thanks!

well, aftermarket motor mounts are solid urathane, so i would think filling the stock mounts with polyurathane would give about the same results, if u think its worth the time to save a few bucks, all 4 mounts from prothane are only 80 bucks
i hope thats what u were asking, from ur post i really cant tell if ur using the stock rubber mounts and making inserts, if ur making a complete mount urself, or if ur talking about making the actual metal bracket that the mount slides into

Oh I'm sorry. I will just be making inserts for the stock mounts. Where the opening slit is, I will put the hard nylon board pieces in it and fill around it with polyurathane. Thanks for your reply. In my opinion though, to me its worth the time since I already have to have money to rebuild the transmission LOL (tranny rebuilds get spendy!). I might be rebuild the engine at the same time. I'll post a update evently when I get the mounts in and the engine running! Thanks
