Auto transmission info

Hey guys, my friend has a 1991 Talon non turbo with auto trans. The transmission just recently broke down; no matter what range is selected, the engine just free revs and the car goes nowhere. It was working perfectly before (eg: shifting properly, no grinding).

Is there something like a digitized service manual or anything available online I can look at?

I'm just trying to diagnose it to see if it's something major or minor. I don't own one of these cars(RX-7 TII is mine but i'd like to see his back on the road.

check the filter-pump is the heart of a tranny-no oil through filter,no move.good luck-post back i'll try and help but im going to need more info.

It is quite common on these units for the torque converter splines to strip out. You cound have a perfectly operating trans one minute and no movement the next. A clogged filter will cause no movement but it willl be more gradual (ie slipping before it stops moving). Also a bad pump or clogged filter is almost always accompanied by a whining noise.
