Well if this question has been answered then im sorry that i didn't find the answer....i have two trannys both from 91 talons made before march...one is out of a tsi one out of a esi both have same bolt pattern....the question is...can the be swaped..can i use the n/t tranny on the turbo motor. My reason is that the n/t tranny i KNOW the history of...its only a year old and the other is factory. thank you

measure where the starter bolts up to the tranny. one of them might be set lower than the other and if so, you're going to have problems with the starter engaging the flywheel. Also check the starter shim, they might not line up either. But you shouldn't have any trouble.

N/A transmissions are not as strong as turbo transmissions are they? The distance between the input and output shafts on the turbo transmission are further apart than a N/A tranny. This means the N/A tranny can't transfer as much torque as the turbo.

Well, its not that, its the way they are geared. that determines how much is put to the ground. the turbo tranny has a better first gear than the n/a and the 1.8. But the GV4 first gear gives the most torque.

Actually, what I meant was the distance in millimeters between the input and output shafts determines how strong the transmission is. A turbo transmission has more of a distance between the shafts than an N/A. Which means it can handle more torque or power than the N/A transmission. I'm just curious to whether an N/A transmission can stand up to the abuse of a turbo motor as well as a turbo transmission would.

i'm not too sure. you can always try. If it were me, I'd run the n/a and not abuse it too much and send a turbo tranny up to bm tranny and get it built then swap it in when it gets back.

so far my tran is holding up to my turbo motor and ive had no problemi have a 2.0 tran, but this is on a project the whole was a 2.0 n/t the only thing i have left to change is the tran but thats if it do hold up
