I just got an OBX racing shifter, and I can't figure out how to get it to fit correctly. It didn't come with any instructions and it doesn't seem to be any shorter than the stock piece, it actually seems longer. I'm screwed so please help me.
I got it on and it works but it won't let me shift to 2nd. the eye that fits around the bar on the bottom of the shifter hits the shift plate. If you could tell me how to get it to work without removing the plate would be good. I can take out the plate and grind it down to let me shift but i don't want to.

Ive heard of this problem before with the obx shifter. People usually have to grind a few parts to get it to fit correctly. Bad workmanship. You can deal with it or see about sending it back and getting a B and M short shifter. I recommend it. As for why it is just as tall as the stock shifter is because it makes the shift throws shorter, not the stick shorter. People usually think that they will have a little knub for a shifter once they put it in. Common misconseption.

aight guys thanks i'm gonna see if i can get someone to cut it down and make it fit i ground some of it off last night but it still wouldn't let me shift to 2nd. so im' gonna give it to a friend and see if they can make it fit. thanks again

eh, the B&M _is_ only for the 2G. And my god, it's wonderful. I've been running mine for three months, and it still amazes me every time.

I wonder what it would take to modify one into a 1G....
