What is the best tranny fluid?????

Im goin to change mine here soon and want a know what is the best is?? And how many liters does it take ?? Someone said 2.3liters that right??

I'm all about Redline Heavyweight shockproof, however I do know it's rough on brass synchros. BUT, my opinion is that the synchros get "used" faster than the fluid could damage them... Anyone have any hard facts on the matter?

i'm not sure about the brass synchros, but GM Synchromesh can be picked up for $10 a quart at any GM dealership and it is comparable to the best synthetics on the market. I changed to it last weekend and the shifts are much smoother on my high mileage dsm.

BG syncroshift II is the best around. Redline shifts even better, but is harder on the tranny parts. The GM cannot handle the stress of the synthetics, but on a lower hp car (under 350whp) it should be ok. For the price of a tranny though, I always spend the extra $15 and put BG in mine.

Valvoline 75w90 non-synth. $2.99 a quart. If it's good enough for Buschur Racing, it's good enough for you.

Seriously, the stuff works at least as good as most anything else, and it's cheap. The only other things I would consider running are Syncromesh and maybe BGII. Other synthetics have iffy histories. Hell, I've run non-synth Coastal and it protected better than Redline ever did.

And yes, around 2.5 quarts.

Pennzoil/Quaker State Synchromesh instead of GM's- same part number, same stuff, $4.80 at AutoZone instead of GM's price.
