am i doing somthing wrong?

today my dad gave me a 91 laser for my B-day and when i gun it in 1st,2nd and 3rd it the clutch kinda dosent engage and the motor rev's out by there is still some engagement so it will drive but rev out easliy..
im new to this car but I have owned manuels in the past so its not me.
can aanybody give me a hand?

They have everything you could ask, dont forget to check the faq and vfaq section, screw it just read everthing. Before you post make sure you do a quick search, just incase that question has already been posted.

As for your question, that is the telltale sign of a slipping clutch, being revs go up but the car doesnt move, and being that its a 91 its probably time for a new clutch.

hey thanks for the info. one more question. if i dont dump the clutch, its fine, but when i dump it it does the rev thing. Is that just early warning. How much is a new clutch? thanks alot

It's a warning.

If you mod or drive agressively get an ACT

Its a warning, a act 2100 will run about 300 to 350 and a act 2600 will be from about 330-390. I suggest you get the 2100, but if you dont plan on modding just go to napa and get their clutch kit. Good luck!
