well i managed to totally tweak my lower back and i busted myself in the eye with a socket wrench but its in. my initial impression was that anyone who whines about the pedal pressure is a total p*ssy. its not much worse than stock. i was having some engagement problems but i adjusted the clutch rod and its smooth as butter now. i havent gotten on it yet but it seems to work real well. ill post back here when i do my first launch on the clutch:thumb:

Just had one put in myself. I am having engagement issues in first, but it has done that on and off for a while. Pedal pressure is, as you said, not bad at all. Was yours engaging right off the floor before the adjustment?

yeah. take a 12mm wrench and undo the locknut on the clutch adjusting rod. screw the rod towards the firewall (clockwise looking towards the front of the car) a few turns. do that until your clutch engages farther off the floor. i seriously added INCHES to my pedal play. other than the back and the eye im VERY happy.

ok so i drove down to sacramento for some street racing last night. i had a little over 200 miles on the clutch when i launched it for the first time. all i have to say is holy f*ckin shit! car is a totally different animal now. before with the stock clutch, launching and shifting just sort of felt lazy. now it grabs hard and puts it to the ground. im very very happy with this clutch. no chatter no problems at all. if anyone wants to know i killed a bpu ws6 too:)

Drove for 4 hrs in city traffic breaking mine in last night. At first I was having instant engagement off the floor, but by the end of the night I wasn't really noticing it. Still need to put more miles on it before I get ruff. Is it bad to have it engage straight off the floor, or is it just personal preference for it to engage later.

Jon

adjust your clutch rod. see my post two above. i *hate* having it engage right off the floor. that means i have to move my seat up to compensate and then my knees hit the steering wheel. not comfortable at all. it also shifts smooth as butter with the extra line pressure that the adjustment creates. JMHO

OK, but its ok for it to engage right off the floor right? I mean it isn't harming anything, it just might not be comfortable right?

Jon

as long as your not grinding going into gear id say your fine.

hmmm.. i have not adjusted my ACT 2100 yet just becouse it's such a pain in the ass to do, and i often grind 2nd gear for no aperent reasion but half the time it goes in fine.. i still hate it grabing off the floor though.. but im pretty used to it and im the ONLY person other than my father that can drive it without stalling like it is LOL.. but if adjusting it would help the grinding problem i think i will spend a while takeing off the pedel's and some time upside down to do it...

you dont need to take the pedals off dude. the rod is right above the gas pedal. i have HUGE hands and i did it no problem.

*nod* I just got my 2600 in last week, and I had to adjust the pedal a bit too; it was engaging right at the floor for me, and grinding like crazy. I carried around a 12mm wrench with me for the first couple of days, and adjusted it a bit every time I drove until I found the spot I liked; it now shifts almost exactly like it did with the stock pressure plate in there. Trust me, take the time to adjust it; "go fast with class" and all that. :D

This weekend, I did another complete bleed of the clutch because I was getting a soft pedal from air pockets in there (and took the opportunity to install a braided SS clutch line), and the pressure is damn near perfect now. It's a little stiffer than stock, but not much, and after a little driving, it's definitely not noticable. But I've got legs like tree-trunks (I prefer the term "full-figured tuner"), so take that with a grain of salt.

Engagement is amazing, though. I've put the requisite number of in-town break-in miles on it now, so I got a chance to launch it twice yesterday (the Fidanza flywheel is going to take a lot of getting used to; it spins down a heckuva lot faster between shifts than previously, and you definitely have to launch at a higher RPM). It just grabs and doesn't let go. Daddy like. :thumb:

Does anybody have a review for the 2600 on a GST? How it slips opposed to stock.

I've got mine ordered, but not on car yet. I'm just looking for info on "better traction" or "lauches"... since we FWD guys have to worry about how much tire we spin on the 60'.

----
also... peregrine, what 2600 (disk) did you get?

i used a stock 2g disk. ive neard horror stories about the disc springs popping out on act disks. i would imagine that your tires would break loose every chance they get with this clutch.

Yeah I just got my car and it had a ACT 2600 and I was worried about all the horror stories. I have NO PROBLEMS except with engagement. Could someone go into more detail or show me where to do it because I want to but I have no time to research it because I busy trying to fix other more imminent problems and I'm not very knowledgeable with cars yet. I would really appreciate it thanks.

read the whole thread again. all your info is in here.

i cant see how anyone can say the 2600 has a stiff pedal, i have one and its not that bad at all, if u want something sick get one of the clutchmasters clutches and remove the hydrolic restrictor from ur clutch line, my friend has one on his 2g fwd, its a clutchmasters stage 3, it has a 2500 pressure plate and some sort of kevlar street/race disc designed specially for dsms, the clutch is the stiffest i (and everyone else who has tryed it) have ever seen on a street car that worked and drove well (i say that cause someone we know put a CM stage 5 on his civic and it chirped every gear including 5th every time, there is no slipping it, it either in or out, no inbetween, he took it out after a few days)

well i just got my 2600 in today, the pedal is pretty stiff, i mean its not horrible but its quite a bit harder then stock was, and its engaging right off the floor, i can drive it and it doesnt grind but it sucks having it at the floor, i adjusted the rod by turning it just like you said, towards the firewall, and i might have turned it 1-2 times and it really didnt make much of a difference, actually i dont think it made any difference. do i just need to turn it more?

well the only other thing im a little worried about is, a shop installed it for me and the flywheel is stock, no step, what kinda effect would this cause?

ok i got my rod adjusted, it engages like an inch or so off the floor, i had to turn the rod at least 3-4 times i would guess, its hard to judge though cuz you only turn it a little at a time

so now that its off teh floor a little its definately better, seems easier to push in too, still very firm though

I'm about to order the 2600, however I've heard that they increase the chance of crankwalk. What do you guys know about that?

I had no idea the stock 2g disk would do the job. Do you think my stock disk would be alright to use, or should I replace it with a new one?

i believe pruven performance used an act presure plate either 2600 or 3200 in the car in last years ultimate sport compact challenge. He also was using the stock disk. I think i remember reading that he said it runs best like that.

they used an act 2600 i believe, and ran a 11.2 at 125 i think

i recall reading that you should not use anything but an act disk with an act pressure plate

im using the stock disc with my 2600 and its great. no problems.

Yea he said he went through like 30 diffrent clutch setups and thats the one he uses so its good enough for me.
