I got a 91 laser fwd and am running 14.9 @97 mph that has got a be good for a low 14 sec pass right???
I need a run through from u guys on how to launch with out spinning ??? You guys must have some good tricks up ur sleeves?? T ell me how to launch without burning the tires??
I need to know baddd!!

get some slicks, if you can afford them at least get some good ass tires. i have kumho v700 mounted on stock rims. they are 225/50/16 series. they are really soft so i only use them if i'm racing.

heres a good example, i was always launching at around 3000rpms with those tires. i also have act 2100. i wouldnt drop the clutch, then i just bog or wheel hop if i dont bog. with slipping at 3000, and warming up the tires, i was hitting 2.4s 60'. the tires would just pull off the line. my friend told me to go higher like 4000-4500. well i did it just like i usually do and my first time trying it i hit a 2.3s 60'. also enroute to my best time but like 3mph slower than my best speed.

so make sure you have a good clutch, good tires and some power.

Ya im lookin for a set of slicks, and u say i should dump her at 5000??? That seems high dont it?? I burn through first second and half ways through 3rd before u get traction. So i think i should get some slicks LOL . What a bout easing it out of the whole?? No good???

slip the clutch like he said... dropping is very bad....

Well I always do between 2.10 and 2.30 60' with street 17" cheap tires with high treadwear (over 300) stock suspension so you can't have a worst set-up for lauching than me. My trick is front tires at 18-22 PSI and rear tires at 40 PSI, also get there with an empty tank of gas, take out you spare tire, jack, ect.. I launch at 3500 RPM on a 16G and I slip my clutch like crazy. Don't try to control your throttle it's useless, concentrate on your clutch slippage instead.

I average 2.2 60 ft and dipped in the 2.1x a few times. I luanch at 4k-4500rpm and slip the clutch fast enough to where I don't bog but slow enought to not get wheel hop in first. You just have to practice and find ur style.

Tires are definitely a plus, but certainly not the "key". I'm using nearly bald Kumho 712 ecstas on my FWD. My trick is using really stiff AWD springs in the rear, and low PSI in the front tires (about 20 psi). A good burnout to get the tires sticky ALWAYS helps.

I launch at 3K (unsprung 6 puck clutch w/stock pressure plate), short shift @ 5500 otherwise the fronts will break loose, and slip the clutch slightly going into 2nd.

2nd and 3rd are the hardest pulling gears, so if you get good shifts there, you should be set. I usually shift around 6k.

Before the AWD rear springs, I was cutting 2.3 - 2.6 60's (horrible I know) and best run was 14.8 @ 96.38. My first pass with the AWD springs on I cut a 2.2 60' and ran 14.4 @ 94.91....my only mods are 2.5 exhaust (stock DP) and 14 psi boost.

Hope it helps.
