Has anyone heard anything bad about the RPS clutchs? im considering buying there MAX pressure plate and stock disk. it says it handles 450 foot pounds of tq so it holds a lil more then the ACT MAX pp and stock disk plus its a little cheaper.. i found it for $402.00 shipped anyone know where i can get it cheaper? or should i just go with a ACT thats what all my friend have and i have never heard them complain.:talon:

rps all the way. i love thier clutches. waiting for my act 2600 with street disk to die to pop in the rps 2500 with 6 puck sprung disk. if you need the clutch i know a performance shop that sells them for a real good deal.

the clutches pressure plate isnt the real cause of crankwalk, its just a scapegoat, it more attributed to people not upgrading everything along with the clutch, if u buy a clutchmasters clutch(2g) it comes with a paper that clearly says u have a very high chance of crankwalk and other damage if u do not remove the hydrolic restrictor from ur clutch line, iv yet to see any other brand clutch give this warning, and iv seen dozens and dozens of people put aftermarket clutches in their dsms and not get a lighter flywheel and not remove that restrictor, when using an aftermarket clutch with that restrictor still in it only allows u to let the clutch out so fast, so its the effect of slipping ur clutch like ur taking off a light every time u try and shift fast or dump the clutch
the paper also states that many of the problems that can be caused will be blamed on the aftermarket clutch when actually its parts that should have been replaced or removed when upgrading that were at fault
what im saying is if properly installed and maintained, and driven sensiably any clutch can be used without risk of damaging ur engine

Thats all just....dumb.

I've got an RPS in my talon and it works quite well..

I have the "stage 3" clutch (the current equivalent is the street disk - sprung hub and stock housing) and it's pedal pressure is just slightly more than stock, but holding pressure is rated something like 2550, so nicely between the ACT 2200 and 2600s, but is definitely more livable for daily usage. It's not rated as high as the MAX (its rated ~340 ft/lbs), but it works just fine in my setup.

I have no comments about crankwalk as mine is installed in my 1g.

thanks for the info.

anybody know about their "MAX" clutchs? Im intrested in the 2200 presure plate with the street disk, supposedly rated at ~450 lbs/ft of torque on their web site (and ~380 lbs/ft of torque on a different web site  )

Wih their new line of clutches the max is the 2500lb and the sport is their 2200lb.

The max street disk has a clutch disk that looks very similar to the stock one.

I am using their clutch on my car. If you want a good place to buy the clutch from use www.dynamicracing.com. It is listed as 3000gt non turbo since they use the same setup.

I got the clutch in 2 days, I also ordered some shock line for my transfer case from them.

With the RPS pressure plate you can run the stock step height on your flywheel, which I think is better because it will wear more like a stock clutch.

My only complaint is they don't include a aligment tool. It has held up to some really strong launches and the clutch feels great and grips hard.

:thumb:

PS 6 puck 2200 is 340ftlbs full face max is 387ftlbs and 6 puck max is 500ftlbs.

RPS carries two different pressure plates and two different discs. The PP is the Sport (Black) and the Max (Blue). One is a slightly modified PP (Sport) and the other is heavily modified (Max). The PP on the Max can be altered in 100lbs increments and for the Eclipse PP can have a range of 1900lbs through 3200lbs . Which doesn't help a lot on smooth engagement (3200lbs). Currently, RPS manufactures two different Max PP for your compition needs a 2200lbs and 2500lbs. Both are recommended for cars that are exceeding the norm of 300+HP. Our discs are street disc w/ Marcel and the 6 puck sprung hub w/modified high spring rate that's alternating, which gives the 6 puck a proggressive spring pack. The 2200lbs and the 2500lbs has great release feature added in the Pressure Plate Technology. RPS manufactures one of a kind progressive dual diaphram.:shhh:

Not sure exactly what mine is, it's a "RPS Turbo clutch" :) Not sure what model... BUT, it's very nice, holds power just fine and is still very light and easy on the left leg.

how long have you had it?

Our newest technology Proggressive Dual Diaphram...

Max Pressure Plate w/ street disc w/ Marcel.
2200lbs 450TQ holding power
2500lbs 475TQ holding power

Now with our 6 puck sprung hub.
2200lbs 525TQ holding power
2500lbs 575TQ holding power

Now a look on the dual PP:thumb:

That clutch is one of our classic turbo clutch series, as our clutch technology advanced the method of increasing pressure plate pressure is to re-shape the diaphragm spring to produce a higher spring force. This method has been so successful that it has recently been patented. When re-shaping a diaphragm spring it is critical that the original shape has been "erased" from the metal's "memory". If you just re-shape the spring without employing the patented step to eliminate the memory, over time the spring will bend back to its original shape. Now, this clutch technology method is still practical for most application it sets us back from increasing the PP LBS flexibilty. Our newest innovation is the Progressive Dual Diaphram, that can be altered in 100LBS increments and won't weaken in strength. A picture to see the PP w/ Ribbed diaphram spring.

RPSS I got a question for you. I am in the process of heavely modifying my 97 GS to turbo and I made the mistake of buying the act 2100 clutch set before I realized I have a modular setup. But John from prostreetonline referred me to your flywheels since that is what I need to convert my modular to a non-modular setup right? Do you guys have an flywheel that would work for this setup since mine requires 8 bolts? thanks

I wouldn't say ACT sucks... I know tons of people who use them with good results.

I know the RPS is a nice clutch... thats why I bought it.
