Toronto,
Hi,
I have a 98 talon tsi awd, with hks bov, hks intake and 3" turbo back exhaust, intercooler piping, bm short shifter etc.

I just got my clutch installed in a shop, they machined/resurfaced my flywheel, and installed a new release bearing.

I took the car and went for a spin, i didnt shift hard or tried to launch since the clutch is new and i have to let it settle in.

However, when I try to push the car a bit lets say just in 3rd gear, boost would kick in, spike to 17 psi or so, my wheels would start hopping, is this normal when u install an aftermarket clutch??

also, my blowoff valve seems to be releasing air AS the turbo spools making huge blowoff noise as the turbo spools, my rpm's jump a lot but the car doesnt meem to be moving at all.

any recomendations???

the shop guy said it must be the ecu doing that cuz they removed my battery and the ecu reset but im fearing it could be worse.

I would check the intercooler piping to make sure they put it on correctly. Check for any kinked or bent rubber IC connections. Just for fun, look to see that both front axles were pushed all the way in.

Then look at the intake pipe, wastegate hoses, BOV to manifold hose and whatever else you can see under the hood.

thanks for your help,

yes indeed it was one of the metal clamps that was holding the upper intercooler was loose so every time there is boost kicking in, instead of teh air going into my engine it would vent out through the rubber coupler cuz the clamp is just loose...so i bought a new one and now it doesnt make that noise anymore and i get my full boost.

Thanks,
Z
