I just did some nice upgrades to my AWD and now I'm worried that the center diff might not be able to handle the power. I have an ACT 2600, 4 bolt rear end and I plan on launching hard at the track.

My question is, who has broken their center diff and how hard/easy was it? I guess the 60' time is the best indicator of how hard the launch was, but any info would be helpful. Also, did you break anyting else before the center diff? or is that the weakest link in the drivetrain? Thanks for the info!

after i broke in my act2600 my center diff only lasted 1,000 miles, of

lots of track use. i think i broke it from boost launching tho, you can l

aunch hard and it will take it but slip the clutch! i was stupid and would

hold around 5,000 rpms and right before going i would floor it and dump

from there. id say it should last you as long as you slip it.

after rebuilding my tranny i now slip from about 6,000 and still get 1.7

60 foot without the harsh dump of the clutch

Thanks for the info. Secretly I'm hoping to get a 1.6 60' time, but I don't know how aggressive I have to be, and if the center diff can handle a launch that hard. I tend to slip the clutch a bit just because I'm still used to a FWD launch and I can't get it out of my head! Maybe that's a good thing. Oh well.

I forgot to mention that I have drag radials on the back wheels and a Quaife front diff, so there is little chance of wheelspin to ease the shock of a hard launch. I hope the center diff holds up.

I plan on going to the track next Wed. to try out the new turbo, IC, injectors, etc. Anyone think I should wait until I get a center diff spool or what?

Anyone here who has been running low 1.7 60's or 1.6's for a while without breaking the center diff?
