here's the info off their site:

This replaces four rubber bushings in the cable assembly with a single CNC-machined aluminum bushing. Essentially, this item eliminates the "rubberyness" in the shifter and tightens up the cables so they don't flex when you change gears. This part eliminates the feeling that the car is in neutral when it's actually in gear. For all second generation turbo DSMs. Includes installation instructions.

it's 20 bux, cheaper then machv and rre. this is going to be used in conjunction with a b&m short shifter. thx.

I was looking at the replacement too but I dont think they fit a N/T tranny :( but I got the B&M on 50% with energy suspension bushing!!! WOWOWOWOW thats all I can say ppl drool on my shifts.. also cut half an inch off the top of the shifter :)

ok there are 3 different parts you can buy for making your shifts stiffer, the one on extremes goes under the hood on the tranny, and doesnt make a whole lot of a difference

the one from roadrace with the urethane bushings or the metal bushing kit from machv will make the biggest difference, thats what you want

theres one other i remember seeing somewhere that attaches to the cable end or something also

so which bushing kit is better, the one from road race engineering or trans bushing kit from dsm parts? which bushing kit will help me ou the most. i recently changed my clutch and half the bushing on one shifter cable is gone, i cant shift into 5th and when i shit into 1st or 2nd it grinds. so which kit is the best for me?

i believe each one of those kits is a different part, the symborski is in the shifter base, the extreme kit is on the tranny right at the top, and the bushing kit is also on the tranny but im pretty sure its a different part then the extreme kit, so you could buy all 3 and a short shifter for ultimate improvement

I just got all my B&M with the Ultra Stiff Under hood, and the brass shifter base. It is awesome!! i highly recommend that set of products

I've had both the extreme thing and the symborski. The extreme thing, done before I got the symborski kit, made only a small difference in how "solid" the shifter as a whole felt. This was on my 95 AWD at about 60k miles. Is it worth it? I dunno.

The symborski's made a lot of difference in my 95 AWD. In my 99 though, it made little to no difference.

Would this fix my problem? When my car is in gear i can move my shifter to the right side alittle bit in some of the gears

I think the under hood kit would help, because the side to side movement is probably slack from the rubber bushings on the shift cables.

You'll still have some movement but not much, I have the symbroski shift kit and the Ultra Trans Bushing kit from dsmparts.com, the metal sleeve in on of the bushings on the transmission actually fell out so that had a lot of slack in it.

Dont forget to replace the rubber bushings on the transmission end of the shifter cables, with rollerblade bearings. It will take up a lot of slack as well. They are a press fit.

Heres a picture of the Ultra Trans Bushing from dsmparts.com installed on the cable end on top of the transmission. They are made from brass and have them installed on my car, the also got rid of being able to push the stick forward after it's in gear, once your in gear it stops, makes shifting so much better and easier.

I tried the symborski for a week. The product quality is fine, but I actually prefer the stock feel much more - especially now that I've compared them back to back... and back ;)

The stock plate bushings barely flex at all anyway, and insulate the shifter from noise and impact when shifting. You don't realize what a great job they do until they're gone.

With the symborski in, every shift goes CLANK into gear. You hear and feel every linkage clanking into place with every shift. Amusing for five minutes. Tedious and unfinished feeling after that.

IMHO of course. Some people consider clanking into gears a "more direct feel," LOL, so it's a subjective thing I guess...

Anyone know where I can get the cable end bushings for cheaper than $30?

I know they work but I am not willing to pay $30 for two little brass thingies.

I am willing to try the cheapest imitation out there!

I think $30 is a pretty resonable price. I got them, they fit perfectly and are a good quality peice, made a big difference. Although if you must go the cheapest, do like mentioned earlier and use rollerblade bearings. I have never used those so I can't tell you if it is as good as the brass bushings but I'm sure it would make a decent improvement. Why does it seem like everybody want something for nothing in this town?

Roller blade wheel bearings.

I wouldn't say I am trying to get something for nothing....but $30 is rape and I dont feel like grabbing my ankles! Thanks for the tip on RBB I will give those a try.
