okay, my transmission was rebuilt by a shop recently, before it was pretty fragged. Anyways, it shifts good, but when Im in 3rd gear decellerating, theres a grinding noise. Like an M22. On acceleration, theres no noise, just when Im in gear slowing down, and only in 3rd. Any ideas??
Also, whenever I come off the line in 1st, or shift into 2nd, theres a "thud" noise just when the clutch fully engages. I though it was engine mounts, but theyre all good. Its from the back, I cant see what it is....could it be U-Joints??
Lastly, theres also clinking noise from the back when I go over bumps. Its not the muffler....
Im worried :(
any suggestions as to what these sounds are?

I had that same problem, but with every gear. Opened the tranny and the diff gear had some missing teeth, the driveshaft ( I think that's what it's called) broke a tooth, and the bearing on that driveshaft was wasted. I think the bearing started the problem and cause the drive shaft the be misaligned with the diff and it might have gotten in between the gears. Good luck!!! Oh, this is on a front wheel drive so it may not be the same.

sh*t!! If we apply what you said to my problem, that means that maybe my 3rd and 4th gear have missing teeth...or maybe bad bushings. The f*cking mechanic that changed my clutch was supposed to rebuild my tranny as well.....this bites :(

The thuds and clinking noises were my sway bar bushings, and other rubber bushings on the rear diff....so thats solved.

Im taking my car to another mechanic, and letting him hear it, I hope he says Im just being paranoid, and its normal gear noise. we'll see
