96 Talon TSi AWD help

I have the chance to buy a 96 Talon TSi AWD at a sweet deal. The kid was driving it down the road and the rearend locked up on him. I was wondering what all it might have been damaged e.g., tranny, transfer case, drive shaft, etc. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated. Im might buy the car in a week, and wanted to know what I would be possibly getting into on parts and work.

Its hard to say what could have been damaged. My transfer case locked up and it broke the teeth in the rearend, broke the weld on the drive shaft slip yoke causing it to leak fluid, and funct up my transmission so that it would pop out of gears while driving. If your not afraid of dealing with replacing or rebulding any of that stuff then go for it.

I figured it might be a tranny and back job. For $1500 I think it would be worth it. Then again, I already have 1 money-pit that I'm working on. *shrugs*

Hehe... what it'd cost for you, or what you'll tell _him_?
If he's not beaten the rest of the car to death, $1500 sounds like a steal.

Did the rear lock up or did the transfer case lock up? If the t- case locked up and fawked all the stuff up then buy the car take it to the dealer and make then replace it for free. Covered under t-case recall. Read the thread abouthte t-case recall at the top of the forum. For more info PM me
