Level 10 PTS Shiftronic System

Has anybody ever used the Level 10 PTS Shiftronic System?

http://www.levelten.com/store/import...shiftronic.htm

This device allows an A/T to be controlled like a slap shifter. I just found out that they dropped the price down to $500 (originally like $1000) and I was thinking about buying one so I could have a paddle shifter setup on my car (99 GSX with paddle shift capability.... OH YEAH!!!). Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody has ever used one of these before and if it works as well as they say it does. Let me know...

Yeah, I am waiting for some pics of what it actually looks like but, here is their reply....

We do offer a pts transmission system that is capable of handling up to 675 hp. It will also get rid of all the lag and the hesitation off the start and shave off anywhere from 1/2-1 second off 1/4 mile times. Now as far as the shiftronic set-up it is set-up on a box with a button for each gear. You control what gear you would like to be in period. You can also control the lock up feature in the torque converter so you can get more mile per hour!!

I will post the pics of the system as soon as I get them. I did a little research last night and I found quite a few people that said they shaved off over 1/2 second just from Level10's PTS transmission rebuild kit. Sounds like I need to put in a few extra hours these next few weeks so I can find out for myself...

I have one, but i have yet to put it on the car. I want to get used to the transmission before I go screwing with manual shifting. The one I have is either old or was made with plans from level 10. It's not real fancy, but there are four buttons(one for each gear) and two switches. The switches control:

1. The engagement of the push button feature. This will disengage the TCU and all shifting is up to you. This can be dangerous because you can go from 4th to 1st at 100mph. I don't know if the tranny alone will compensate but I think that the TCU is what keeps you from doing this normally so if you dont have the TCU on then all shifting is up to you.

2. Engages the lock up of the torque converter.

I may or may not put this in my car but from what it looks like its real easy to wire up. I can submit a picture of it if you like but like I said mine was made by an electrical engineer and not by level10. I'm sure there are several ways this could be designed as well. I personally would like to see it in a paddle shifter format.

I am also an Electrical engineer and it would probably take about $20 worth of parts to change it over to a paddle shift style (need to also find some paddle shifters). I wanted to build my own, but I couldn't ever find any info on how the TCU worked and want the pinout was for the connector. Do you know if the person who made it for you still has all of the info he used to make it??? If he does, could you please have him email it to me.

Yeah, I will see what I can come up with. I actually bought the tranny off ebay from a guy who had all this done to his car. When he sold the car he did not want to let it go with the tranny because of all he spent on it. He sold the tranny seperate to me for less than 1000 bucks I bought it a few months back but I just now put it in because I wanted to drive the old tranny until it died, and it did. Right on the track in the middle of a 3500 rpm stall. now I dont have to give near as much throttle to get the turbo to spool which is nice but I also have to learn how to drive with the new tranny. Once I get that down I'm going to put the manual shifter in.
