Well, one of the ears on my block (where the tranny bolts up) is completely snapped off (its the one towards the upper rear of the engine bay). First off, does anyone else have this problem? If so, does your transmission work alright? I talked to a fellow DSM owner with the same exact problem and clutch (ACT2600) and he said he's never had such problems.

Another problem that I recently discovered was the "shim" plate (the metal insert which goes between the block and tranny) is actually CUT IN HALF - the other half is completely gone. I certainly didnt do this, someone must've really hacked it. I have ordered and received the shim plate. Could this be the source of my problem, since it would be at a very small angle and not even against the block? Or do you think its the missing "ear"?

And lastly, my reason for posting this is the fact that today while driving I was in 1st gear, not driving fast at all, and I let me RPMs climb to about 5K (not boosting at all). I know its a bit high, I was pre-occupied w/a phone call :( Anyway I came to a stop light and pushed in the clutch. When the light turned green I started to let the clutch up and give it gas - it popped right out of first gear and WOULDN'T go back in - I was only able to get it into gear by shutting it off, putting in gear and driving away. On the way home the transmission shifted FINE. But at that light I couldnt get it into gear for the life of me.

I'm extremely sorry for the LONG post. Any help would be APPRECIATED SO MUCH. Thanks, Erick.

No one has any input? I'd really appreciate any ideas/opinions about this! Thanks again, EA.

Hell yes I have input look at my thread I just posted about this bs. I'm breaking out the welder now and not happy about it LOL. I have had the same bs problem with my dsm and it's the second time I'm going in. I tourqed everything down right to. That same exact ear broke off my block as well but the bolt engine to tranny belt on the lower left of the engine seems to be the problematic cause of my problems.

Mine just did this for the second time. And hopefully you have an arc welder to weld it back on to the CAST IRON block. MIne held good for almost a year of being beat on and it was mig welded the first time. Arc welding cast iron back together with nickel rod was what I was recomended............

yes I used a good nickle rod as well. I'm hoping this is going to hold. I'm preping my 6 bolt block just in case.
