Ack !!! I blew up my tranny. I took off in first gear, shifted to second and nailed it. I then heard this horible crunching sound.

I am running a turbo engine swap through a NT 5 spd. I think that the differnetial (sp) is damaged. I can get the car into all gears. When I attempt to drop the clutch, it just stalls out.

My question is this. Where can you get the parts to rebuild a tranny yourself ? How much HP is a stock T 5 spd good for ? If I get a T 5spd tranny and the flywheel, is there any other swap issues that I should be aware of ? What are the differences between a NT 5 spd and a T 5 spd?

wath year is your car??? in the 1g dsm's the tranny from the 2l turbo and 2l non-turbo cars are the same!!! but i beleive the 1.8l n/t dindt have the same tranny.

My DSM is a 92 GS originally. I remember hearing somewhere the gears were a little different. I was also told that a turbo flywheel would not into a N/T transmission. So you are saying that the turbo tranny is no stronger than a n/t ? Anybody who can confirm ???

hi again!!! i did further research to find out i was wrong there are differences betwen the turbo and the n/t trannys!!! sorry!! but in my oppinion the blocks are basicly the same on the turbo and n/t so the turbo tranny whill probably bolt up but i dunno how itl work on your car

the trannies are diffientely different. I would do the swap if i was you other wise your going to spend alot money on a tranny/clutch/ flywheel/ pressure plate that can't hold any power. Make sure you know wheater you have 6 or 7 bolt flywheel and that all the parts are for a FWD. You'll need a turbo tranny, flywheel, pressure plate( recomending ACT 2100) stock mitsu disc, and throw out bearing. Axles I beleive are the same but I could be wrong..........

you also need the dust cover and the starter.
I did a similar convertion, from NA to turbo.

I found a 92 turbo. Installed it today.Everything went well. The driveshafts are the same. I will let you know overall how it went when I finish up tomorrow. Does the synthetic fluid make a huge diff ?
