I have a 98 GST Spyder. It runs fine except for the tranny sometimes acts up. I have read numerous times that the trannies in DSMs are less than great, so maybe this problem is common. Say Im going down the highway @ 65Mph. I want to pass a Rig in a hurry, so I stomp the gas and turn into the passing lane. Most of the time, if I am traveling at like 60 or above, then stomp it, the tranny sort of "herkey jerks" around for a second or two. It acts as if it cant quite get into a lower gear or something. Also, if it is really cold out (around freezing), if I dont let the car warm up and just right away put it in reverse to pull out, the tranny makes a kind of "rubbing" sound. Are these common problems or is my tranny on its way out? I have been told that the first problem may just be a sensor or something. Thanks!

Oh, and another thing, does your car shift quickly from 1st to 2nd and then 2nd to 3rd after driving for a while at low speeds? Mine does. I'll let you know how it goes after I replace my sensor. Mitsu charges 165 bux, Autozone has non OEM for 100...
